C. Animal,

Check out this weapon that went through a 4" rag.  I heard it, shut her down, asked my hose man to step away, started pumping slow, out it came with out even a surge. Another broken mixer fin ! I thank God that no one was injured and that I caught the sound of something traveling through the boom. Things could have very easily went wrong.

I had to try and exolain to a lawyer type person that a real operator uses not just their sight but sense of hearing & sense of smell when operating his pump. It was all true; but it was like trying to explain calculus to your dog... he didn't get it.

Good save on the 'could have been' hose whipping. ;~)

I think the strangest thing that went through my boom was an 18 inch pipe wrench.I was about 80 ft.from the truck and at first it sounded like a back end reducer plug.Reversed the pump at idle and eased it forward, better take off the 5-4  reducer, the plug changed its "feel" everytime I reversed the pump.Hmm..strange,plug moving, but very solid, little cream and rocks out of the boom.Naturally everyone well clear, rocked it back and forth, out pops the pipe wrench...weird plug. The ready mix plant is next door to a junk yard,go figer

We have a pile of these in our shop. Just had one wedged in under the S tube yesterday.  It was about 3 feet long and 8 inches wide. Slid right thru the grate. I have lost my scraper before, not realizing i dropped it in the prime port. Primed through the boom and 200 feet of system and out came my scraper. Still use it to this day

the worst thing that went into my hopper was a 20ft length of chain. The mixer driver grabbed it about the same time it got caught by the auger. When i heard that driver screamin i came running around his truck to find him with his arm wrapped with the chain, him in full panic mode and just about out of mind.I can only be thankful that there was enough chain and iwas fast enough to shut down the auger before it got real ugly. He told me after that it was just habit to wrap rope or chain around his hand for a better grip, and was going to change that habit. I suggested to him to just hit the E STOP. This was before we had engine shutoffs on the remotes.
