DON'T BUY GAS ON MAY 15 2007 On May 15 2007 the American coalition of Internet Users (ACIU) is planing a GAS OUT to protest high gasoline prices! In April 1997 there was a gas out conducted nation wide and Gas prices fell 30 cents overnight.(I do not remember such a news worthy story.) There are roughly 73 million Internet users who spend $30 to $50 to fuel up at the pump. The e-mail that was sent to me claims that is about 3 billion in revenue lost in a day. Sounds good to me. I will be sure to fill up on Monday. I do not know if this will work but I am going to do it anyways. Please pass the word. |

this must really be picking up steam, I got 3 emails on this in the last week. |

Who Knows ? A friend of mine sent the e-mail. I am a little skeptic. I think we would have to not consume gas for about three days to have an impact. I thought I would pass the word. I know the people in California could use a break. |

I recieved over 7 emails about this. I think it is a great idea. Only way to fight them is with a dollar. Where I live gas has gone up about 75 cents a gallon in a month. It's ridiculous. |

Funny thing is they just reduce output and get it back. However I can remember gas wars at 11 cents a gallon and early 70's when we rationing gas.One recent news artical was perdicting $4.00 gas, just another cost of doing bus and pass it along. |

First, sell your gas hog V10 PU & SUV and buy some sensible transportation. Second, have all the troops in Iraq go to Saudi Arabia (where the 911 guys came from) and re-claim all the oil fields WE built. No those are not very practical solutions to the problem, but it sure felt good to give them voice. ;~) |

ok... what a joke. I will not buy gas on that day...but the next day I have to get to work to pay the bills for my family so I will get gas on that day? Boy I really showed them. The answer is not in this method, it is in the voting booth. |

Seed, On a serious note. The only way to have any effect as far as showing our collective outrage would be for EVERYONE to agree on a single company; Exxon, BP, Shell, it would not matter which one, and for one year NO ONE purchase any fuel from that company. An arbitrary day of no fueling would need to be followed by a day of making it up. A complete and total lack of sales for an extended period of time would not only give the boycotted company a big financial headache, but it would make the others wonder: who is next. I think that the oil companies are safe. Americans can not agree on anything. Canadians are much the same. If they raise the price, we will all pay more(period) |

I have to agree that sensible transportation with less consumption would be the only way. Then you know the oil companies would cut refinery production, have a lightening strike or a major storm will arrive. There is no way out! I am going to idle my car in the yard with the AC on. |

The europeans are much more realistic than we North Americans, and with good reason. They have a much longer history and national identity, they have had many wars fought on their soil and know firsthand about rationing and what must sometimes be done for the common good. Yes, I admit it, I like big ass gas hogs too; I am also smart enough to know that they are not in our country's best interest. When Toyota makes the diesel PU available here I will own one. They just make sense. It will be very difficult to convince the ME FIRST generation to make the switch. |

Well Bob, G.M. has a full size suv that is a Hybrid, and the duramax we have in our yard gets 22mpg on the freeway. I think that these auto companies are comming around to the idea of good mpg. Its just takes the consumer to start talking with pocket book. Oh and that Toyota you love som much does not get near the mpg as the brand new Chevy and Gmc trucks. Chevy pickups.. like a rock. Best trucks on planet earth. |

Europe is going totally nuclear power too. France is like 85% nuke now and even the scandinavian countries are building nuke power at a rapid pace. We are still worried about "china syndrome"....the three mile island incident which, like Chernobyl was using techonology that you can find on the average wrist watch now days.....today we can build them smarter, better, safer, but in America we don't build nukes, we still use faucil fuels, which are huge polluters....hats off to europe for being smart and not catering to whackos... |

Plus the fact that a pump operator can rat-hole mega bucks for years on a nuke job. Nukes are green in more way$ than one |

I worked on a nuke plant in nothern Michigan years ago, We would work 3 hrs a day for 3 days and then have one week of. we were always undergoing tests to check our Radiation levels. The funny thing was we were not working in a ''Live"" area. There is so much waste with those projects it really kind of sad. Nuke power is good and safe its the waste that they generate that is the pisser. I say bury it all in the deep in a mountain some where!! |

Remember, The wackos said " NOT IN MY MOUNTAIN " I really expect them to start a couple new nuk plants within two years. It is a good way to push the economy some where. |

I have worked on (building) two nukes. For the first three years you could work 7 days a week 24 hours a day. How much money you made was up to you. |

They built one years ago in Seabrook ,NH. I talk to guys all the time that were on the project. Money, Money, Money. They were good times you can tell. Lots of work, lots of concrete. |

Finland is looking into their 6th Nuclear Power Plant....one of the reasons cited for building the plant is the "environment". Nukes=Zero pollution....hydro dams, as you know, destroy all kinds of wildlife and salmon runs, coal is a major cause of pollution, and you don't want wind mills destroying the scenic view from your home. Nuclear makes since....
