getting paid

I have been reading the posts and would like to ask the question of how many operators think it is o.k. to not get paid for all your hours worked? And do you think that has anything to do with companies cutting prices?

if your not getting paid go home, nobody should work for free, slavery is over, no one should work for free, no one.

the hours your working for free is knocking another man out of hours he could be getting paid for.

I am not working for free, I am unemployed because I did not agree to drive the pump to and from a job for no pay, we have way too many operators out there that do that and you all know who you are.

i would take their ass straight to the labor board that is illegal , I would definitely do some uncomplimentary advertising.

That is not right as an owner of a company i would be embarrased to ask that of an employee turn em in to the labor and industry board those kind of things are what make it hard on companies that pay there guys a 4 hr call in even if they only worked 2

Pudg, Your first reply was right on!

I guess this may be one reason the Insurance premiums are so high.

If you are not getting paid, stay on the couch.

Guys some uions have it writen in the contract that you only get paid one way to the job and if you do 2 jobs on differant sites with 5 hr on one and 5 hr on the seconed you do not get overtime it has to be on one job this is how the 139 is writen

Before I owned my own company, I always felt that the only free time I would give my employer was the drive from my house to his yard. And thats it, If you are sitting in his truck/yard/jobsite and you are not getting your hourly wage , you have two options

#1, suck it up and forget it

#2, quit and find a better job

It is simple as that, at least in my opinion it is

if you are not getting paid from the time u walk in the shop to the time u park the pump at the end of the day there is something wrong with the owner of the company..if he is not making any money he needs to rais his fucking prices...or find something els to do..dont take it out on the working man, i worked for a guy for eight years that always cryed broke but he had a lake house two bad ass boats u name it he had it. i never bought in to his bull shit and now he is no longer pouring concrete with pumps and telebelts.and left me high and dry...best thing that ever happend for me...

I would take it to the labor board, remember Wal-Mart and several of the grocery chains who did that? ANd for the Union guys I dont understand how you all stand for it. The only consessions I or anyone in my company has been asked to do is a wage freeze and, we get no bonuses. But we have never been asked to work off the clock. What we did I have no problem with and, we are still allowed to do yard work when we arent pumping so, it isnt like I stay home if Im not pumping.

It is in hard times like these that you find out who is worth their salt and, who isnt. Sounds like your bosses arent. So when the good times start again I guess they dont need any good reliable operators because, they dont deserve them.

fish guy,

If I was in a union that signed that shit I would leave, with representation like that I will stay on my own thank you, anytime you are in a pump driving and you are responsible for that machine you need to be on the clock, I could not conceive not getting paid driving a pump, and what boom inspector said is true, but with the economy what it is now again my condolences if you have to work for this jackass.
