Good or Bad decision

While on vacation at the beach last week,I went up to our condo to take a shower got out, went on the balcony to see 3 people have been taken out about 500 yds by a riptide,I changed back into swimtrunks went down to the beach to see only 1 man has gone out to help(humans never stop disappointing me) I got my board and off I went,it took me and the other guy (Phillip) about an hour to get them all back to safety and what a feeling to know you had just probably saved 3 lives, without thinking of our families or anything but helping people in dire need without getting anything in return, but I did get something,a feeling I hope I never have to feel again, but the feeling of helping someone just because that what we are suppose to do as children of God,its a memory I will never forget and something that we did not for glory or money, but thats what in my mind we were supposed to do.I hope that if I was in need someone would come to my aid,but with what I saw that day I have my doubts.I have no doubt that 95% of us on this site would've done the same thing I did,is it because of what we do for a living that makes concrete pump operators have these values toward life or is it just it takes character and strong belief in your own abilities to be a pump operator, I dont know but I'm proud to have these values and charactor and if it is concrete pumping that instilled them in me I have to say thank you to our profession for it. What do yall think good decision or bad decision?Would you have done the same?

Good decision, caring people are hard to find, maybe the others on the beach will learn from you. (Probably not) I can only hope you are around when I'm in trouble.

Hey, if you're ever looking for a job ?????

Pudg: Because it was the "RIGHT" thing to do!! I once stopped an armed robbery(no I didn't know he had a gun) and went through all the "Hero" BS. TV, newspaper all that rot! When the TV guy asked me why I got involved, without even thinking I replied" Because it was the right thing to do" And that's the RIGHT way to live! You do what you can, when you can, with what you've got! Be proud of yourself! And don't be discouraged by your fellow man,as I believe there are more people who are like us than not!

PUDG..

It make me proud to be associated with such a great group of people!!

Definitely a good decision on yours and Phillips part.As far as the thing about the values you have coming from being an operator I can pretty much go along with that. The other day I was on my way back to the hotel(I am in louisianna) after dropping a "local" operator at his home, about 2 hours from the hotel. When I pasted a car driven by an older lady that had pulled onto an off ramp with a flat tire, witch I didn't notice until I was past them. Then it started gettin to me so,I went to the next off ramp, about 10 miles down the road turned around and went back to help.So after you mentioned this it got me thinking, perhaps it does have some thing to do with what we do for a living  I too must say thanks for the values that "the job" has instilled. It is almost aggrevating to think of how many people just drove by seeing what was going on.Once agian I am very proud to be associated with such a great goup of people!!

Good decision. Talk is cheap, but its our quality of living that sets the stage. Even driving down the road, one has the opportunity in the moment to reciprocate on another drivers bad habits, or open a space and let someone have a break, in effect you set a tone around you that has a ripple effect. Big or small, it all adds up to what is going on in our world.

good decision, Its people like you we need around to make this world a better place, thats how god intended us to be, to help one another when in need, but most are self centered, very sad. You should feel very good about yourself, what a feeling it is when you do something like that.

I think people are good or bad regardless of what they do for a living...so I don't know if it's the pump operator in you that saves people's lives - that's just you.

The 'nice' person in me would've done the same thing...

...the 'operator' in me would've waited for some laborers to get the life saving equipment ready, then made sure the site safety coordinator approved the equipment and finally - after some stretching and warm-up exercises allowed the lifeguards out to do their jobs...with safety glasses on , of course...and hi-visability Speedos...

nice work pudg.

i personally think it is a dumb question of course if someone is in a live or death situation the answer is obviously yes to help them

I was always taught no question is a dumb question, and kind of seem like everytime I write something you have a smartass comment,so whats the problem, grab you a plane ticket and head to baton rouge maybe your attitude will change when I'm looking you eye to eye, maybe your one of those rookies that likes to shoot his mouth off thats fine direct it at someone else I dont have the time nor patience for your bullshit

if i recall correctly i have never said anything smart to u it was u that chewed my ass , but honestly think bout the question u asked and tell me that there is more than one answer

There are at least two answers.

I would not have done what Pudg did. I would have found them some help. If I tried to make that save, there would have been one more person in trouble needing help. I used to be a lifeguard... but then I used to be 28 years old - 34 years ago.
