There are some factors to this question.   The Climate where the pump is and what parts of the pump.  I dont believe there is a exact answer.

The ingrediants are probably the  key issue, call the manufacturer.

Agree with DNO. The manufacturer is the best source of info for a question like this. An internet message board is probably the worst.

Different manufacturers add dye to color their grease but that should not be the factor for picking grease. You need to look at the chemical make up and viscosity.

As long as it specifies "NLGI 2", it doesnt matter what color it is

Hey guys had three jobs today and drive over 300 miles, up north pumping you get around. Anyway what i learned from my machinest friend who just rebuilt my rock swing arm is, the grease you can't see through is best because its dark from suspended particles of either graphite or molly. Thousands of tiny balls that lubricate and act like little bearings. The pretty red and blue grease is basically just petroleum with color, it just washes away or rubs out.

I don't know but it makes sense to me..

putzmeister recomends lx1 grease for their grease system since its thinner and wont plug the pots, on schwings lx 2 is recommended and the vogels can handle the thicker viscosity

who has grease pots??? lol.. I have to manually grease my rig every 100y

Dont need a grease pot with a Schwing...a Putz gland is much larger, and to keep it right a pot is the only way to go.The booms dont need a pot but it sure wont harm anything as long as they are kept filled and work properly.

Good grease pulls well, put some grease between your thump and forefinger and open slowly. It will either break or be very stringy. The key is putting your gloves on and picking up that thing with the lever, and use it.Question; On a jobsite which do you use more, your "smart" phone or your grease gun? If you were born after 1973 I think I know which one.............

I agree on that any grease used very regularly is better than the best grease used rarely.. One thing I do know is that clambs with a grease nipple are useless.. Pumping grease in the clambs on the outside will only push the rubber even more tight in to the swiffel. Then the grease will dry out and the swiffel will get slow quicker and the rubber will wear out sooner.

But thats a whole differnt story Wink
