Hey guy I got a question due to the sudden layoff of personel in my shop I forgot the type of hardfacing wire I need to put in my mig welder to face my swing tube ( what the name of it ) please help thanks |

The type of wire (specific hard-facing wire) likely isn't as important as the procedure - pre-heating, pace of welding (getting it too hot, or unevenly hot) and the proper -ultra slow cool-down. You best bet is to contact you pump's manufacturer, unless you are using jobber parts, then the metalurgy of the cast pieces may be suspect. Unless you are well- versed in welding, use a reputable welding shop. |

Also, you have to jump back and forth from one side of the "s" tube to the other..or you will warp it. |

allways thought it was a stick job. but i was suprised when i saw hard face on a new machine. |

what you're looking for is called hard-alloy 148, 3/16 dia. rods; there is wire available, but it doesnt wear as good as the electrodes |

Done both wire is faster doesn't last as long though. |
