Here is the info on the new hose I was telling you about. I feel that besides the obvious usefulness of this kind of design for tight access walls etc. , the safety advantages are even more significant. The hose can replace the use of pipe and even standard placement hose in many cases. The working and bursting pressure of the Mudsnake at 1250psi /2500psi substantially exceeds that of 666psi / 2000 on a standard discharge hose and 800psi/2400 on wire braided hose. T he weight factor, when considering common accident s in the form of hose whippings back injuries etc. , should have a positive impact on our industry as a whole as well. The comparisons of the weight of the 4 inch Mudsnake compared to other commonly used 4 inch hoses are as follows . Mudsnake 1.28lbs/ft . Fabric discharge hose 3.3lbs/foot. Wire braid hose 5.4lbs/ft. Nine gauge pipe 6. 8lbs/ft. The selling price is expected to be competitive ranging somewhere between a fabric and wire braided hose. Thanks in advance for your help in getting this information out through the most dynamic media in our industry ConcretePumping.com To order please call 1 800 914-6141 or email at order@brundagebone.com

I have been trying to contact BB about supplying these hoses but we can not dial the 1 800 number from overseas and the enquiry form on their website will not send. Do you have an email address for them ? |

mmmmmm For me the jury is still out.I would wonder what the tested max yards per hour was, areas tested.Another question would be experienced life expectancy would be. From past expeience most cast in place decks were at a rate of 100 or more per hour, then add mat pours which is balls out.So where would the limitations be placed.Sorry, dosen't look like a one size fits all solution, but a start. |

Just something I realised now... What would it look like if you put something with a lot of steel fibres through it? :D |

I have the 1st 30' X 4" mud snake on a job they come in I think somewhere 600' rial cut to order. It has a special design swedge pressed on end. The old lay flat hose was nice but the burst pressure was not as high as this one and the hose at times came out of the pressed on end. The other thing that's nice is though the hose collapses it doesn't collapse all the way thus keeping the rocks from separating and allows the hose to drain. Or in stiff mud situations the mud stays in the reducer the hose colapses and when you start pumping again it plugs. I have had a chance to watch and use this product in sertin tight situations this the ticket. Thanks to Josh A. for the name really cool. |

I can see that one now,the so called master of pumps, the operator.Base there soul game plan to this and no backup plan. There were two of us long boom guys that would catch the high volume stuff at a time in our branch. At the Pepsi Center on several high profile pours 150 an hour.Gimmy the 5-4 1/2" and rock and roll. A 357 in good hands is a wonderfull weapon, not for the faint of heart. |

all good....but i cant see the advantage of that hose...like if your not strong enough to push a rubber hose around find another job and by the way we push the hose and opperate here...i dont think you guys do that?? but its the norm here.

Pushing around the hose is never safe wherever you might be. |

I used one of those with pouring colored sidewalk on the top of the parking garage at Skipoint in Tampa. Pouring where we could have no splatter next to finished and painted concrete walls and 12' glass panels. NO mess to clean. Only one problem to keep in mind, If they need a little shot 5 ft away, this style will kink about 6" below the reducer if they push to hard. You have to move the boom and keep the hose just about straight. Oh and I almost forgot, its a pain to get perfectly clean when you dont have much water to work with. Sure did work the way it was surposed to. Nice and slow with zero splatter. |

cretehead67 | 05-31-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
nice and slow is about all they would be good for. like many says '' Its agood start''.

Hey Many, you are kinda missing the point....this is not about high volume yards blasting out of the end of the hose It is about going slow, creating virtualy no splatter when the situation calls for it. Anything else....well....that is what rubber hoses are made for.

Naahh, been around way to long to miss the point.First the picture illistrates a beem in a cast in place deck, yeah right. Most GC's I have been around want production. Now enter "Ricky Racer" god's gift to the pumping industry. He now takes that simple piece of operator friendly equipment and shazaam. Show me one operator that will use it correctly and I will show you 100 that won't.Let's face it,there are more lazy people out there than do gooders. That was my point, nothing more or less. Just the facts |

Many you hit the nail on the head, these are good for ICF walls and blockfill. Not much more. Maybe they are stronger since the are from such a large company but I highly dought it. Used them for years [homemade] with a five to three rams-horn reducer. Lots of blowouts in the hoses if slightly kinked. |

I wanted to clear up any misconceptions that many of you have stated in regards to this new, innovative product, the Mud Snake. There has been some discussion out there about how other layflat hose products have been used in the past. Please take into consideration that in no means is this product meant to replace the conventional single ended hose. Where this product is good for some pour situations such as deep walls, columns, etc. it may not be good for others. What everyone needs to know is that the Mud Snake is in no way like the other layflat hose products of the past. For years the industry has searched for a product that would aid concrete pumpers in many tight pour situation. This product is over two years in the making, with countless hours of infield testing as well as laboratory testing to ensure that this hose meets CPMA burst ratings for safe and efficient concrete pumping. We realize this is not the prefered hose for everyone but I think after you see the benefits of this hose it will prove itself as an important tool for safe everyday concrete pumping. Feel free to contact me directly at 253 854-3333 option 2 Sincerely Scott Rochel Parts manager / Brundage-Bone C.P.

like the rest of you old timers ive been using the donkey dick for years never liked it. We have been using the ones like the snake for about two years . there yellow with pressed on ends. I belive we get them from con forms. Im still not a big fan, but they work a lot better than the homemade ones, In the proper application. Just dont try water washing with one. |
||
Pumper J | 06-03-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
Con-Forms has never offered a yellow "Donkey Dick" before, not sure where you guys may have found one (Tijuana maybe?). It looks like this "Mudsnake" meets CMPA standards though, which I have never seen anything else out there with these kind of burst pressures. So for folks looking for a lay flat hose that is safer than anything else out there, this might just be the ticket. |

Hi Scott And nobodies killed you yet? Just kidding.I recieved a private mail from one of your area managers which was very enlightening. It seems as if used correctly this may be a viable option to most people.I would say deffinately worth the try.Remember most had reservations about the blast net but it's working. If anyone out here has used this personally, please give updates.
