By looking at the pictures of jobs in Europe,as in Vasaland and such,I notice far fewer people on the job site as compared to us Americans.I have seen pictures of 61m pumps on big slabs with only a few men,but us Americans would have 3 or 4 times as many people,most standing around "observing".Am I wrong in my judgement of these pictures or are the Euro's just that much smarter and money wise than us in the US?

You are right, I noticed the same thing. When you hire Vasa you only need one finisher, he is the master placer. I think after Vasa is done placing the concrete the finishers just look at it and say, what are we supposed to do? its all good. Honestly I think our mixes are just harder to handle.

here in england you would probly average about 5 blokes in a concrete gang if most off work is off boom = hose man, poker man , laser man and 2 rakers. . if u hav pipeline you often get average of 7 in a gang. 1 end hose man, 2 behind him snaking the hose, 2 maybe 3 rakers, laser man, and a poker man

Todd , think the mixes are the same , its just the contractors and their purses. if the gang is full of immigrants then there will be loads of them, if not then you will be lucky to get a hose man off the boom.

Don't sure about mixes being the same.
They might be to the same classification, but thats the end of it I think...
As what I've read on this site we in Norway use alot higher slump on a regular basis, anything under 200-240mm (8-9") is uncommon.
But as said, it's all down to the contractors money, with the high labour costs here in Norway, you save alot by paying a little more for good mud.

In America you can employee twice as many illegals to do the job because they will work for half as much money.  No insurance or benefits workers comp insurance etc.  Sure makes it alot easier for place and finish owners to make money doing it illegally.
