The first picture is a 745 stiff boom. Not much fun to run! The 2 boom is a 845. That was my first boom. I thought it was bad ass pump. I was working for active concrete pumping back in the 1976. 745 stiff boom, 745, 640 stiff boom. We even got the first 2001 ever built. Alot of bad days running that pump. Alot of buggggs. |

M&R in Carson ca, Had a 600 stiff boom that used a cable winch to pick up the boom. Never see it used. I don't think i would trust the cable to hold it up. Plus building your boom . every day. No pictures sorry. |

Hmm..those pix sure look awful familiar? Oh Yeah cuz I took 'em! The first one's a 1974, 745. The second is an 845 but I'm not sure what year exactly? The third pic is an 1962 Cifa, supposedly the 1st Cifa boom.

The first one is a 745! It was a 2 section boom with 5" pipe and hose. To unfold one you put out the outriggers, leveled it, unlocked the second lattice section, and tilted it with the outriggers to swing it around to meet the main section, tilted it the other way to keep it together so you could clamp and bolt it together! Todd, I have an ORIGINAL 640 series brochure that I'd be willing to loan (sentimental value) you! I've posted scanned pictures from it here before! The last pic is a Thompsen 740c, from around '71 or '72. I ran a one owner (a fireman who got too close to the powerlines, so I was exposed EARLY to that) for 4 years before moving up. In my profile pictures, I'm putting my 740c boom on a upgraded 745 module. I flat wore the other one out! We did alot of pumping in the SF Bay area! A couple of your pictures are from CF & T Pumping in the SF area.

Thommyman: Doesn't that 2001 sound SWEET running at full song! They are 1160 V8 Cats with shorty pipes and mufflers. HA! Most Thompsen operators cant hear a thing!

You are picking on some body who lift a little car but her they lift a boom and he have a double-ended endhose on ! But it is maybe some friend to someone ? |
||
bignasty | 03-14-2011 | reply profile send pm notify |
vasa that was long before the double end even became a issue |
||
Vasa | 03-14-2011 | reply profile send pm notify |
So it is no issue anymore with double-ended endhose ? Or lifting a boom ?
Very strange when someones get their heads ripped off for lifting something or have an doubleender on !
Make up your mind , wich rule shall We follow ? Shall I teach our new operators that do what you think is best ! You have an old pump with low capacity and pressuer use a double-ender !
I have fight for uniform rules for almost 20 year... I give up...
I do what our welder use to tell Me , be an idiot it is much simpler than try to make an idiot to understand why he should do this or that .
I can leave My brain at home tomorrow and start to use the phone if something dont run as it should or when i have a blockage , or a hydraulichose break . It sounds great ! From tomorrow I am an idiot ( some of You altready think so ) but tomorrow it is officially ! |

You're right Vasa. These are very old pix of very old machines. I posted them for Todd. If anything they can be seen as how people did things long ago and how we've learned from their mistakes. |
