Got a residential job tomorrow. Cant leave any mud behind at the scene. We only use a ball to suck out our booms. We never tried to water wash our pumps before. Can anyone give me the skinny on how to without rock jamming my 39m schwing? Any help would be appreciated guys, thanks |

Pump out in the mixer,then suck a sponge,go to your friendly redi-mix plant and wash out.That is what i did this morning.The plant was 20 min away.Had no troubles |

I guess I'm with the guys here. Sugar,remix,pull a ball and don't forget the plastic under hopper.This senereo is a common day occuance,make sure you know ahead of time where a wash out area is.Premix your sugar/water in a 5 gal bucket and pour in while recycling. On a FYI note: Do not put this concrete in any structure,it is now worthless and won't get hard.Somewhere in my faltering mind mind I remember vasa doing a test or something with it. Good Luck

You want to water wash??... here ya go IT'S EASY!!!! 1.pump the hopper down into the redi mix truck..every thing you can get out of the hopper 2.Turn your auger OFF and your vibrator OFF 3.Fill hopper up with water 4.Take ONE stroke slowly 5.Fill hopper back up with water 6.Cover hopper 7.Bring RPM's up to about 16-1700 8.Turn pump volume all the way up 9.Turn on the pump,let it shift 11 times,IMEDIATELY shift into reverse 10.bring the hose to the back near the hopper(with it still pulling in reverse) 11.Cover the end of your hose with your hand 5 more strokes and pull your hand off 12. rinse out the hose fold it up drive where ever you want to wash out... works every time (for me) i water washed my 39 for 2 years this way |

Make sure you get enough water out so you don't splash wash water at every stop sign. Sugar is the easiest way to go. |

11 strokes on a 39 pushes enough water out on a 39 your left with about half a hopper full... If you would like to call me and we can discuss it go for it (479)841-8740 names Mike |

water wash is still going to leave a mess dont bother its not worth the trouble |

WHO?? | 08-19-2008 | reply profile send pm notify |
It only leaves a mees if you drop the hopper,even then it NOTHING compared to the mess of sponge sucking |

If you're in an area where you can't make any mistakes...don't go trying something you don't know. Stick with what you know. Practice the cute stuff in places that will allow for some messes... If you waterwash, you've got to drive to where you washout with a hopper full of water....a hopper full of water that will slosh around when you go around corners etc...remember that too... |

Good instructions on the waterwash...keep those handy. The main thing is to keep the water from mixing with the mud...that's when the mud separates and the portland gets pushed out leaving you with sand and gravel...and all rocked up! |

If you do get it wrong,lay it down tip up slightly and put 10-15 gals of water and your sponge in the tip elbow! Then throw it in reverse,raise the boom and suck back the sponge! Once you get the water into the rock going backwards,with the sponges help,it usually comes back! Take it from someone who's screwed the pooch more than once!! |

Oh Yea! Big PS;Make sure the battery in your remote is fresh!! Thats how I screwed the pooch last time ... |

hey mate how you going. this is a everyday at the office for me over here do up too four jobs a day cause no where to wash out. put the lid down on you hopper and pump until no more comes out either in the cement truck or if there is a skip bin. then drop boom down put two buckets off water in then put spoung in the suck back on idle but full strock. the water is enough to wet it so you have a good hour too drive but not too much so it does not segragate. |

Raymond is on target here. I can see it now,a zero mess job and every mistake one could make happens.I can see it now,hose coming out of hopper,mixer and street covered. Thanks Raymond for some sound advice,but who are we?. |
||
sgt580 | 08-20-2008 | reply profile send pm notify |
raymond you convinced me. I'm going to tell the boss no. I'll sugar up and drive to the mixer plant to dump out. we can try a water wash in the yard where we can make a mess and have the support if it goes wrong. I just hope he dosent get to bent about it but Im the one out there in the street with a pissy customer, not him. Thanks again guys. Thats what I love about this site. I can always get enough input and views on a situation to feel confortable to make a choice thru your experiences. THANK YOU ALL |

water wash is easy on a 39m. like who? said pump down until air comes out of the hose (usually twenty strokes for a full hopper) turn off the auger and vibrator, fill with water, -now here is where i differ-, stroke TWICE, re-fill with water, pump hopper five strokes (NO AIR) so that the water crests the A-frame. you'll hear the rocks in the truck. Once it stops draining, reverse it and watch for the air bubble in your hopper to know that it's clear, (usually about six strokes). Or you can do another hopper or two to get all the cement out so that you're left with rock and sand. Contractor's happy and you have no worries of the mud in your hopper flashing on you. |

the water wash seems alot of hassle for some one who has never done it before, especially if he is in a residential area. at the end of the day no-body likes mess but thats part of the hire of the pump. play safe and suck a ball back. ask the the client to get 4 scaffold boards, nail them together and line it with polythene. no mess on road only wots in the box and thats down to the customer to clear. can i ask a question. where will the mixer trucks wash out?? in the hopper?? thats a no no over here in england coz if we have a reducer on it normally blocks us up. so if the customer has to find some where for the mixer to wash out his shute. its more important he'd have to find you some where to wash out.

I guess you guys think I am crazy but i water wash a 39 almost every time i pump. After pumping the water back the hopper will be pretty full and i sometimes lose some on the way back to yard. Yes I do know how to suck the ball but i hate walking around in all that mud. |

How much sugar do you mix in with a 5 gal. bucket? |
||
Mudslinger | 08-20-2008 | reply profile send pm notify |
A 1/4 pound is more than enough! I use a big plastic cup,about 3/4 full and 20 lbs lasts more than a 2 months. I just sprinkle it into the hopper before I blow the hopper out and then use a little to go in the tip in a 5 gallon bucket before the sponge! I kind of float around on my clean-up styles.I might waterwash one day ,suck a sponge the next,bucket wash the next time! It all depends what I have available,and I like to stay in practice. |
