Quick question, I worked on a high rise two years ago for about six months. The position of the placing boom meant we had to add 5 hoses every time we poured one half of the building (about 60cy of it was through hoses until the boom was airborne for the rest). Anyways, the "pump master" there would not let us reduce it down to 4" hoses stating the pressure would be too much for the pump. Topped out about 28 stories. What are your thoughts on this? |

Many, I remember the old "Concrete Pumping Inc. days (before the namme change). The questions you asked yourself before you left for the job. #1. Do you have your rope? (the 100 ft rope you used to pull-up the pipes&hoses to the floor you were pumping #2 Do you have enough chains and binders (to secure the 1 day vertical standpipe) to the building after assembly on the ground #3 Do you have a bottom and top elbow (4" galvanized sched40 24"radiuselbow with rebar welded to it for rests. I can not even imagine anyone doing that today ;~) NON ADJUSTABLE VIC CLAMPS at least the pumps did not have enough piston-face pressure to blow the (good) clamps apart... 650psi |

The hoses were a major joke. I always thought that they were protected by the even worse clamps. The pumping hose industry sure has come a long way. The new stuff is very good. |
