Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone tried to make there own shut off system or clamp for the end of the reducer hose?  I know you can buy some hydraulic or air controlled ones that have proven to work well but I was just looking to make a simple one I can slip around the end of the hose and clamp it off. I have an idea in my head but I wanted to see if anyone beat me to it already?

Thanks

No one? Either everyone bought the complete package, drips concrete everywhere, or is  worried I will steal their idea, patten it and make millions!

One way is to bend the tip hose over and slip a fan belt over it to hold. Another idea i heard of is to cut a slit in the tip hose a inch or so up and slide a mason trowel in it .

Yeah the idea club is pretty slim these days..

Just send me most detailed info on your brilliant idea and I will tell you if I already had the idea before you .. LOL

No serious. One option is a shutoff valve in the last boompipe but that will always leave a smal amount of mud in the last elbow which will fall out at the most unconvienient moment. Also shutoff valves between the tip and the endhose have beet tried but they often can't handle the abuse.

Then there is the option to make a lock at the end of the hose but that is actualy dangerous and forbidden I think..

This is what some of the guys use. Just an old clamp and a tip pf 4" line welded together.

Yes.. Apart from the fact you need a double ended hose to use that...

I just cut a slit about 6 in from the bottom of the whip and use a homemade slide with a handle to stick in there.  I found a mason trowel can be to sharp and you can cut your finger.  When I don't need the shut off, I just duct tape to hole shut. This way I am not changing hoses all the time.  I don't prefer to use that one pictured because it is too much weight hanging there.  I do not like that extra metal hanging there.  Too many times, the man at the end of the hose isn't paying full attention to what he is doing and if I make a wrong move.  OUCH!'
