I've got a 02 32 meter schwing. Its got everything but a rear horn button. Why? I don't know. But I need to add one. What i was wondering is what's the best way to add a horn switch back by the hopper. I've got a switch but need to know the best way to wire it into the existing horn on the turret? I don't see any old wires on the back Like there was once one. I have a horn button on the rear panel but it only works on local. Do I need to wire into the rear panel? Or run a new hot all the way up to the turret horn? It has a CPC system.

I wouldn't suggest wiring the new horn button into the horn on the turret.I would run a new horn for that button out on ,Like the 3rd section. That way when you are out pumping you will be able to hear it from near the end of the boom.If it is on the turret it will be hard to year!...Thats how schwing has them set up

run a wire down to third section tracing it back to box on back of pump, then run a wire down to back of steps you can get a live feed from box then just tell mixer driver where it is before you start thats what i did with my schwing works great

The right way is to run a cable along chassis liner to the truck horn relay. Find a live power soure from control box when pto is engaged, place a 5amp cvircuit breaker then run power to switch at hopper, which will lead to horn relay. Then if your game enough, from Radio remote socket find power from horn button and run direct to horn relay too.

I RAN A FUSED POWER DIRECT FROM BATTERIES TO SWITCH AND USED STAND ALONE CAR ALARM SIREN(MUCH LOUDER THAN NORMAL HORN) KEEPS MIXER DRIVER FROM USING TO MUCH AND CAN BE HEARD FROM EVEN INSIDE BUILDING AT END OF PIPELINE, THE SOUND IS ALSO DISTINTIVE ON LOUD CROWDED JOB SITES.

Thanks. Now that I think about it I have power to the hopper grate safety switch. I could tap into that. It would be nice to find the horn relay. I'll look. That horn wire runs into the rotor stop. I suppose I could find a horn and install a new one? I thought all schwings came with a hopper horn?

another option is just hanging a canister air horn on ur rear out rigger, works good and can be heard from afar. sometimes when that loud fan on the macks kick on, i cant hear my boom horn

I would just find an empty live post in the fuse panel that is always hot and run a live wire from there to your button and then to the horn. Put a 5 or 10 amp fuse link as close to the panel as possible for safety and you will have a horn. I do like the idea of putting one on the boom also, sometimes it can be very hard to hear ( especially if there is a house between you and your hopper)

mixer drivers will let you know there out of mudd, just as soon as it blows all overum and there truck . hate it when that happens;;;; i have a horn and button that works very loudly and have showed it to the drivers but they still run the hopper over or dont push button when there out.think they just like to make a mess and b...h .as far as installing slingers summed it up.
