Yeah its true, twice now in six years a hose man got knocked down. Why you ask? Because they were HOSE HUGGERS.

Couple days ago i was pumping a floor at a pretty good clip, useing my 5-3 reducing hose as usual. I don't know if i was in the process of a long blink but next thing i know bamm the hose handler was on his side in the mud,and yes he was the boss. Shit Fxxx! you know the process. Oh well he was ok but wow, it brings a pumper back to reality.

Moral of the story: It is far better to hold the hose with your arms away from your body than to hug it...

Pump safe.

I hate when guys do that on floors.  Thankfully I got most guys I pump for to swing the hose back and fourth to knock out a 4ft pass.  Makes everyones job easier.   Its almsot like there dancing with it.

Sorry to say but are you surprised?? Sounds like a clasic 5-3 reducing hose situation.. As long as you keep using that thing this will keep hapening once in a while. Lets hope you don't kill someone Surprised

5-3 reducing hose is about 13 foot of reduction so it rarely plugs

I love my reducing hose but as far as wall walkers and pumping fast its scary. I'm considering trying a water wash and reducing down to a three but what a pain in the ass if or when you get plugged and have to take two heavy reducers off and on. I don't know how guys deal with heavy reducers for clean out with out water washing.
Three jobs yesterday or four with the line pump didn't run it though, drove almost three hundred miles. Up North pumping jobs are spread out!

I never use less than a 4'' hose for hanging poors. Specialy not when we pump fast. And then I use the ''pinn poor'' from putz to reduce the splatter. I would realy try it if I was you. It works great and much safer.. Pinn poor is also for 5'' hose. For the wash out just take away the hose or keep your finger on the hole where the pinn normaly is Wink

I have once been blown away by a hose that plugged and then released again. It was a maximum unlucky situation.  I weigh more than 100kg but I was flying 3 meters through the air.. was out for a while. Once you have felt how hard a hose whip can realy hit you you will get a whole different view on the whole thing. You don't have to hugg the hose to get hurt. If you hold it with streched arms it can easily break your arm..

Must admit its not 100.000% safe aswell but in my eyes the safest option. Its very flexible so if a blockage acures it will flip down and let the blockage pass.

Strange thing is that you can not get one for a 4'' hose. But hey.. Thats putzmeister Wink So we cut about 1'' of the pinn when we use it in a 4'' hose. We did get some pluggs in 4'' hose with the long pinn. But not after we cut it..
