How is the concrete where you are

Is any body else having problems pumping concrete produced with ADVA high range water reducing agent.

It makes it look great ,but it raises the viscosity of the concrete tremendously, even a 6 inch slump creates excessive pumping pressures. There is one particular concrete supplier in town that uses it.  And there are about 11 versions of ADVA.

Most likely a lean mix to begin with, the add mixture just compounded the problem.

I wish it was a bad mix to begin with, but it is not. They use so much of this super plasticizer that there is not much water, hence the high viscosity and stickiness that make it difficult to push.

Here in Wash. we call it "the glue". You'll take a peek and looks great, a 6-7" slump but the pump gags like its a 2". It reduces fine but conveys like "glue". One R-M company is known for having weak rock so they use alot of it and have Zero allowable water. I know of Adva, Adva-flow, and Adva100. The first two had a problem spiking the entrained air content. Thats something to be aware of also since the pump usually gets blamed for doing the same!

Otherwise the mud here is Great! (graaavy) Thanks for ask'n Capt VIC

Same here in Kansas City area.  Pumped some today that went into pump at what looked like a 10 inch slump and came out at a 6-7 inch slump.  Inspector was raising heck until he came up and tested slump at end of the hose also.  Couldn't believe that it was regular mud, not the lightweight stuff.  They only started out with a 2 inch slump then pour on the chemicals.   Then say something is wrong with the pump when it has trouble pumping mixes

same problem down here 8 inch slump locks pump up put 5-10 gallons water pumps like a champ there is no replacement for H20 when will they learn, been fighting this for several months on pours from 50 yds to 1500 water always solves this problem, 2 weeks ago everything was going fine on a 1200 yd pour the r/m rep tightened it up a little within a yard we had both pumps locked took us about 30 min to get'm back going one was a putz the other a schwing so we added 10 gallons to the loads and no more problems, and you know the r/m was trying to blame the pumps

No problem here in Norway. And we USE A LOT of chemicals.
But we design the mix so it handles the chemicals, not just take an old design and drug it with chem.
Get the W/C ratio right, THEN chemicals.
What does and typical american design look like btw? A B35M45 if you have something like that?

Below 8" is uncommon in Norway, mostly see it in high quality mud like B45 and above. :D
