how a long day friday, drove almost two hours to sabine pass then proceded to pump some mud only to find out that my day was going to be real long. ended up moveing 58m 9 times for 170 yards good thing overtime was in effect made my day go by alot easier. So how many times have you all had to move a pump for small amounts of yardage.

I did a job last month that took 7 moves doing a one sided 6 foot high wall around a 250 diameter tank. On job 12 hours for 110 yards. But thats moving a 36Z where it only takes 10 min from fold to unfold. Couldn\'t imagine a job that would necessitate moving a 58 meter that many times.

When you were finished, did you feel like an operator or a lumberjack?

A very, very hard day for a big boom operator. Operator pay should be determined by the number of axles on his rig. The big boom operators deserve, and get my respect. ;~)

Back in August of 07, I moved a 39x 12 times to pump a total of 50 yards.

One ten yard footer between two buildings that were 5 foot apart.

Then to the other side of the sxew facility (tank house) to pour three 8 inch diameter ten foot piers. About two yards.

Poured a storm water gutter for 3 yards.

Then moved to other side and poured another one.

Then had to wash the pump out.

Then had to go back and pour two more gutters after waiting two hours for mud.

Went over to guard shack and poured two foundations, 5 yards each.

Then went back to the sx, to what they call the storm water and poured four 2 yard pipe stands.

Poured four yards at the settling ponds then moved to other side and poured another four yards (more pipe stands).

There you have it.  12 moves for a total of 50 whole yards.

Finky, I run a 28m putz, I know it is a little boom and easy to move, Try moving four times for 8 YARDS,Now that sucks. We poured little bitty qtr. yard decks on a 7 story condo project. That is not the greatest day of my pumping career.

im not saying you lucky guys that are on a boom dont have it hard and im not saying your wimps cuz trust me i cant wait for the day to get on a boom but try being on a line pump with 200ft of 3 inch and half to move 3x first starting in the complex then outside and around the complex with 2 of the 15 workers the contractor had working. well there was that 3rd guy that would break a clamp or two. then after all that ending the day of pumping to turn around and clean up 10 of the hoses 1 by 1 . now like i said you guys dont always have the best of days but being on a line pump these situations arise more often than i would like. be happy you dont half to do what you had to do that day 1 or 2 times a months or more. ahhh i cant wait to get on a boom but i got 3 guys in front of me lolz

seatacwhat, how do you think most of us got started.Aaahhh the good old days, unfolding our boom one hose at a time.Your turn will come, the most important part is how to pump concrete and the rest comes easy.

My WORST move experience was 400\' of 4\" down hill 8 times for 64 yards!!! I used what I call \"available resources\"! There was a compressor & a SkyTrac! I would blow a newspaper wad into the anchor hole ,the laborers would load the pipe & hoses on the SkyTrac, and I\'d move the boom! We were done in 16 hours! TEAMWORK!!! Teach 3 guys how to hook-up hoses & clamps...

Wow,13 times in 14 hours.The university of south houston,total yards about 40.

It was a 87\' Whiteman, everywhere I moved was drug by tractor. This gave the name LIME real meaning.

Don\'t remember when but about the time that HUGE tornado tried to take out Witachta Falls,Tx.Perhaps late 70\'s early 80\'s.

More times than I can remember. Most of them have been powerline jobs, where I couldnt reach without getting to close to them.
