How many times have you had to move?

The past few years we've been doing house foundations complete for the government on Ft. Ord, CA. In order to make any money we had to really ramp up the production. We have a32m and the way that we were pouring them required me to have to move 5 to 8 times a day. I'm not talking about a few days in a row, but months. It almost broke me.

The part of moving that 'wore me out' the most was the wondering if the concrete would come out the end of the hose after I was set back up.

When I lived in TX DFW area, I watched an operator finish a wall pour, swing his boom down off of the wall and bu the time he put the sponge in he was set up - tip to tail. There was nothing he could have done that would have changed a thing! It really held my attention.

Bottom line was the ready mix company sent him a red hot load with a brand new ticket. assholes!!!!!!

I could only hit two houses per set-up. Six houses then fall back and do six sets of garages, porches and patios. Oh yea, specs for that job gave us only 1 hour from batch time before a load was sent back. The plant was 1/2 hour away. The real fun part was that I was the one ordering the mud for the day, setting the spacing on the trucks, and getting the ass chewing if the pour crew went into overtime.

I was in plant pouring a retaining wall with a 26m and moved the pump 32 times we was pouring flowfill and couldn't bring it up but about 6 inches at a time and we had about 1800 ft of wall. The 2nd day I only moved 18 times.Piece of cake.

Move the pump, don't get in a hurry,if you need to,wash-out.If possible put a sack of set retarder ,re-circulate,then move.Use ear plugs if necessary, keep ones mouth closed, move again. If the contractor is not happy with the service you provided to him,he will use someone else next time.Simple

Did you say moveeeeeeeeeeeee....lol well between 2 to 10 daily I try to pump off the drivers side it is easier to throw the wood more storage on the drivers side and with my close call I am putting down the dunnage..cya... I even put wood out if my out riggers are getting to close to full extension ..... long day cant think...lol for the record my best was 5...10m footings with dunnage in 58 minutes that beat the s... out of me the reason was a big storm was clossing in and did not want the key on my boom to light up

30 times inside a building column line to clolumn line was the easiest and fastest way(1,500 yrds). Putzmeister came to GA to watch me pour with the very first 32z ever built. All i got was a lousy t-shirt and a mention of my name in a mag.

I don't care how slow things are right now, I haven't moved more than 3 times on a job, and won't. The other guy can have those jobs. Too many chances for problems, too much aggrevation.  I will say though, around here customers don't expect many moves like that, thankfully.

Moves!!!

Quit your bitching. You move as many times you are told. You work for the contractor and he pays your bills.

I once moved 23 times in one day.......Man o man was that a sweet paycheck.

You are supposed to follow instructions, not bitch, don't like it, find another job.

If done as told, your company will be asked back and perhaps you for being a good employee.

ah but when you do move do you wash out and start from scratch by grouting up again or do you but a cap on end of boom fold up, move and hope a mixer turns up whilst you are setting up again. if i know there is definatly concrete on the road i wont wash out but if the customer is not sure i'l wash out 1st then move and rig up again. but most ive moved in a day is 6 time and that was with a 37mtr 5 section. plz not again.
