ive got a 32 schwing and as with most schwings they have their water tanks on the side with a ball valve cock on the bottom of tank

my dilema is i work for one set of concretors who always without asking go and wash all their tools from this valve and it pisses me off because they dont releaise that i have limted water for washing, im sick of educating them , they alwys make a mess too with splash concrete around my fuel tank

has anyone had this problem?

duh, first off the rules are no washing in the street, second they can ask NO. they can bring their own water to their barbeque. if there is equipment or cars in my way i just move them and pull up like i own the place or ask them do you really want your concrete today. or tell them you are hungry and need to feed or have them show you their wallet so you can pay someone to fetch water from the neighbors. best yet is get away from my pump. 

heres what i had to do about the same problem took off the handle for the ball valve put it in the tool box then when they try to use the hose yell at them its the only thing those people understand they get pissed but oh well better them pissed than me i tell everyone that is pissed at me im here to make money not friends cuz who wants friends like that anyway

 Man,these people asking for water are one of us,just tell them that they can use the water after the washout if there is any left.Remember that we work with finishers and drivers every day,and it is usually best to keep them on your good side.If you want to piss someone off do it to some pencil pusher that is questioning you just to justify his job.

what pisses me off is that make mess near my pump and splash concrete everywhere

when i say to them, what if i wash my pump near your car and splash concrete everywhere, they go yeh but this is a concrete truck

i dont want to piss them off , but i also dont want to get upset too

the easy way is just to plug the hole. but the best way is just to wlk over shut off the supply and tell them when i am done you can have the rest.

you know there can be water and a hose at a building 10 feet away and finshers will almost always get the ready mix trucks water or try for mine. and that is after you showed them.

hey bisley im not trying to be mean about it but im not one of them and their not one of me around here there water comes from the mixer that comes with the concrete my water is mine nobody gets it unless i say so cause as soon as you start letting them use it it becomes a problem for me my truck uses a lot of water so ive ran out before doing just a couple of tools one after the other so like i said nobody gets my water and most understand the ones that dont oh well

I must be doing it all wrong! I always ask the mixer drivers if I can get or use some of their water. Then I roll up the hose back on the truck nice and neat the way I found it. The mixer drivers wash my line out for me some times. It really helps out if they like you!( No buried hoppers) The crews, When they ask for water I always tell them to help themselves. I am working for them. I understand if you are really going to run out of water. I think I have ran out of water 3 x in eight years. A lot of my business is earned by  simply being a nice guy. Customers know as long as we are not going to catch on fire or in danger of losing our lives it is generally going to be a good SAFE PLACEMENT. Pumping concrete is tough work and we really have to make it fun to be able to enjoy it.

Right on SEED! Around here it is the ready mix drivers water that they use to wash everything. Treat people like you would like to be treated and usually it all works out good. I guess eugene is the the only show in town treating customers like that.

SOUNDS LIKE SOME OF US HAVE BIGGER TANKS THAN OTHERS.UP TO THE OPERATOR,IF YOU CAN YOU DO,IF YOU CANT DONT.NOT ABOUT HOW NICE YOU ARE,THEY WONT BRING YOU WATER WHEN YOU RUN OUT.THE S----GS DONT HAVE ENOUGH WATER P--ZM-----R HAVE PLENTY.SO DONT BE JUDGING WHEN YOU HAVE PLENTY.IF IM ON S-----G ITS NO UNTIL IM FINISHED THEN YOU CAN HAVE ALL YOU WANT.PUT A LOCK ON VALVE TILL YOUR DONE.
