Just wondering how things are going out there. Would be great if 100 people from across the U.S. Even overseas! shared their view of pumping. You know how the market is in a particular location, jobs plentifull or hard to come buy? Companies doing good or not? I wonder about this all the time. How is it in different places? Be a good read if we all post something. I'm in Alaska. Things aren't what they used to be but there is steady work. Lots of commercial work this summer. Housing is doing ok. We never felt (at least not yet) the crunch that hit down in the lower fourty eight states. Can't complain to much still makin a living. Your thoughts... Pump on!!! |

I got bored and tired of loooong days, not enough pay, irritating know-it-all customers, bad dispatch, dirty work and all the other usual stuff. |

this is my 4th summer as an operator and the 11 summers before I was a mixer driver. we're doing almost twice as much this summer as we did last year. hell, if it had got much slower last year, we'd have been going out to suck the concrete out of a slab. 15 years in the indurstry and I thought I had seen slow times but it's getting better now. |

i run line a line pump doin alot of outdoor stuff. So far in the last two months ive worked half that cuz of rain. Sucks. But thats the business here, even the threat of rain screws up a week. Im not talkin sprinkles i mean rain where youre socked in for a few hours. Done a few basements on incomplete lots, and had to pull hose through thick sticky mud, that was miserable. But whatever the pours went well otherwise. i did 19.5cubic meters today, in 3 trucks, i had to wash out after the first two because the 3rd was gonna be a while and what i had in the hopper had stiffened around the edges and was getting real stiff in the middle, was stiff enough to where water wouldnt wash it out alone, i had to dig and scrape. It was a good thing there was an area to wash there or id have been chipping concrete for a couple hours and trying to save the machine haha. But in a situation like that where there is no washout is the only option to lay down something to wash into? is that the order of business? i guess i cant think of any other solution, blow line, wash out into a tarp or (kiddie pool).. |
