I Love Concrete Pumps

I love concrete pumps.  This is 100% true and I'm not ashamed to admit it.  Most of my girlfriends just don't understand - that's why I'm posting it here - I know you'll get it!  Concrete pumps encompass a good portion of my thoughts everyday.  Small pumps, big pumps, line pumps, Z-folds (I want one, oh yes I do).  Blue ones, orange ones, red ones, green ones.  Schwings, Putzmeisters, Concords, Cifas, Sany, even old Thompsons.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer blue and white Schwing pumps that read our company name on the boom.  But I'm not a hater, no I'm not.

My heart beats fast when I see any concrete pump - no matter the size, color, or company.  For a short while, in fact, a rival company based very close to ours boasted the largest concrete pump in the State.  You could hear it coming from a half mile away.  It was deep and rumbling and majestic - a cross between a freight train and a cruise ship.  When I heard it coming, I ran into the driveway and stood at salute.  It was that cool.  And yes, if you must know, I was a little jealous.  "Size doesn't matter," the operators would mutter when I mentioned the mammoth machine.  But I knew they were in awe, too.

Unfortunately, the pump company doesn't have it anymore.  Rumor has it they are out of business altogether which saddens me.  I enjoyed seeing the rest of their pumps on the road as well.

Okay, okay, so you could argue that I'm obsessed.  Obsessed with concrete pumps.  But obsessed is such a strong word and there is an implication of unhealthiness to it.  Yes, it's true that the first picture I took while on vacation in Hawaii was of a concrete pump... but no, I am not obsessed.  I am merely enamored.  Yes, I am enamored of concrete pumps.

I should mention that concrete pumps are not the only interest in my life.  I love many things; my family, Starbucks, baking, shopping, reading, the new TLC series Sister Wives (I know, I know).  Concrete pumps are merely in the top ten.  Okay, to be honest they're tied with Starbucks for #2.

Enough about me.  Let's hear about you.  Do you love concrete pumps?

I confess, I love them also. My wife even loves them and she does not even know why. When driving down the road and my wife sees a concrete pump she yells it out and if I don’t see it she will ask if I want to turn around to go see it. My friends call me to report concrete pumps on job sites. I love seeing pictures of pumps.

I search the WWW every week for pictures and videos of pumps. I tear up when I hear of anyone getting hurt by a Concrete Pump. A concrete pump tipped over or hurt trips me out. I long to see new pumps. I hate buckets or tailgating. Boom pumps are majestic and line pumps are just so cool. I created Pump Magic for owners of concrete pumps and I spend my day trying to think of new ideas for the Concrete Pumping industry. Seeing a bad set up makes me feel sick, I hate power-lines, underground tanks and metal on the end of a hose.

I feel like operators and owners are way under appreciated. I love the old timers even the ones you love to hate.

Few things are cooler than a concrete pump, my wife for sure, kids are kind of like a boom party “you need all the help you can get” and God, he allows me to work in a field I love but other than that Concrete Pumps rule.

I don’t know about Shopping Superstitious unless your shopping for a new Concrete Pump.

mmm concrete pumps... i lost my innocence to an old 28m putz/thompson conversion... what a beast! Manual swing front  and rear outriggers, black and white wired remote, seperate engine for the pump, wondering why the elephant trunk is switching faster and faster and the concrete is coming slower and slower... hahha sometimes i miss that 'ol girl... wonder what she's up to these days...

Love is a pretty strong word, when It comes to a pump. But I understand the attraction, to an exoctic machine, hows that.

I still want to operate a tela belt, I find them interesting.

I here ya. The fiance and I were driving down the highway couple weekends ago and I could see an old pump just a little ways in town that we were driving by. I didn't say anything just pulled in so I could see what kind of pump it was and what company owned it.

I specialy love to see big pumps.. Like over 42m .. A line pump gives me no feeling at all.. Smaler pumps are cool because they are so easy to work with and super fast to set up. Can do 4/5 jobs a day with a 20m if you plan it right..

But the big pumps is where my hart is Wink

Being on the road on a nice summer day, pump is all clean, got the mirrors , wheels all shiny and its a monday. Its the type of job where what day it is dosent matter.
