You will love it other then the boom hop.  We have a 05 and I ran a 06 40 before that.  Good all around pump.  Do the new ones reduce at the first section of deck pipe?

Your not trying to return the ball in Z frame are you?  I always A frame it to suck back ball.

Best way to tell if the ball is back if you cant tell by taping the the pipe is put your hand at the end of the hose.  You will notice a huge differance in suction when its back.  One nice thing about the putz prime port is the rod going down to catch the ball.  Thats one thing that sucks about the 40 is your stuck with the twin wall pipe.  Yes it last longer but its pricey and harder to to see where the concrete is.  One thing to consider is to put a second grate on it.  On the one I run the first section of deck pipe is the reducer.  So if that plugs it would really suck.  Adapting from a schwing to a putz takes a while but within a month you should have it handled. 

Practice listening in the tip when sucking a ball or sponge! There's a VERY distinctive sound when the ball is pulling back! It's kind of a hiss as it travels, then when it gets to the transition 90, it gurgles,and you can hear the hydraulics whine ! With a little experience, you can also listen through the tip hose!
