From what I have heard from close friends there was a communication problem that resulted in a hydrolic explosion that took my buddy.

Last I heard was it was a brand new Sany that was having hyd problems with the boom. He realeased the bleeder screws to relieve pressure on the 4 to 5 section cylinder to remove the holding blocks. After the bleeders stopped dripping he proceeded to remove one of the holding blocks/monoblocks and there was a realease of high pressure hydraulic fluid. I can"t verifiy this is true, I was"nt there, but damn I"m going to miss him!!! I worked with Rodric for awhile and you could"nt meet a better person. I can assure you that it wasn't from lack of knowledge. And for all that knew him at STAR "skip, it makes you happy!!" miss you

It's realy hard to believe. Rodric was only 31 and and gave so much. He wouldn't even had gone to that company if the guy he was working for made things right.

Where would the 'pressure' come from on a boom cylinder? Hydraulic oil is incompressible, unless there is air in the system to store the preesure (energy), or an accumulator. Sounds like the jury is out on this occurence.

He was my friend as well. I know his dad and was there when he came in to the industry. He was a Christian man that worked hard for his family and is in the Lords hands now...Sad day in the industry. Will miss you Roderick.

Yes Rodric worked at Original before it was BB. And he worked at Star and HiTech

The "pressure" would come from the hydraulic cylinder holding the boom section up or down...or the weight of whatever it was holding in position.

The company at fault is already trying to cover this up like the last one.

I hope you didnt expect anything less than a coverup, next thing you know they will be putting the blame on the mechanic who lost his life, these guys have no conscience no morals no ethics they are driven by greed and stupidity,it is embarassing to have that sign up to the rite hand corner, wouldnt be there in my house , but its not my house.
