With all the pumps out there that carry water in the rear outriggers, Lining or treating them should be discussed or considered. The post about "line-x" on pumps and Bobs comment got me thinking. We,ve all drained down and seen the hand full of rust that comes out. Sometimes we gotta poke a stick up the drain to get it to go. After being inside of a 2 yr. old pump to remove the water heater coil and seeing the extent of the corrosion. I started floating a bit of oil or deisel ontop of the water every once in a while to slow the rust. The oil floats so it blows right out when you fill your water again. Every steel water tank leaks eventually. This rust & corrosion has to be effecting the structural integrity of the outriggers that store water. Should'nt they be lined or treated, some how. |

We replace the outrigger on a 47 meter a couple of years back, and according to the manufacturer, the inside is coated. Indeed, there was a coating on the inside, but not a thick coating such as Line-X or anything like that. Just a clear coat of sorts. FYI |

i put anti corrosion cartridges in my outrigger that we get from putz and they seem to work, i pull the inspect covers off every couple of months and there is a slimy film but no rust. i change the cartridges yearly. |
