Really depends on what sort of pump you run Boom Inspector, but that really does not look right. Hear are to pics of Meales S31HT, so its a boom and a small crane!

The pump with the engine hanging from the boom is a 33m Reich. The FreightShaker with the cab jacked forward is a 44m Reich, I'm guessing that's what the shiny new engine is going into. Which makes this even funnier because the picture below is of this very same 33m last summer as it sat in a RM yard with a Blown Engine!

Boom for a crane . I won't do it period. For those that think its safe think again. The boom may look safe after doing the crane thing. But its the hidden damage thats going to get your ass.

Boominspector: ''Concrete booms (all makes and models)are designed to move concrete not lift heavy objects , they are not a multi purpose tool even if you feel they can handle it ,It is never recomended to do so...''

This in not correct. There are pumps designed to lift equipment also. They even come with a hook and all. Maybe they don't make them any more but they have been build not so long ago. I'd have to ask my boss for the makes and models but he is always talking about them and how he would like to have one again.

My thought is that if it does not have a spool with a cable then it is not made to pick things up. That is why someone designed cranes.

unless its a crane without a spool and cable...

I know a guy who where stuck in the snow with his Putz 36M. He use the boom to push the pump out of the snow. Not so good idea - the boom was looked like a bow, so he could´nt fold it down. His employer wasn´t so happy.....A break down-truck had solved the problem for much less money. So never use the boom for anything than pumping concrete!

Many years ago when i was a mixertruckdriver and when i were pouring my load in the hopper on a mixertruckpump, i notice that the pump right outrigger were sinking down in the clay. I pushed the emergency-button on the pump so the operator also notice the problem. Even though the mixertruckpump (27M-boom) was maximum unlawful overloaded (total weight: about 42 ton!!! 7,5 m3 concrete in the mixer), the operator use the boom to lift up and stabilize the whole 42 ton truck (!!???) while he put in more big stones under the outriggerplate. It worked ! But at that time i was just a simple mixertruckdriver, and the pumpoperator let me know that (in the very bad way) when i told him that the boom isn´t build for pushing that heavy weight.

So my question is: Is there any pumper on this site who had use the boom to solve a sinking outrigger-problem ? It works, but it´s not a good solution.
