Just introducing myself.

Hi fellow pumpers/anyone else related to the concrete industry.

I just wanted to introduce myself and get to know more boys and girls in the world of concrete pumping to gain more knowledge, getting advices and sharing ideas or helping another person out.

My name is Brendan, I'm 26 years old and I come from Brisbane, in the beautiful state of Queensland in Australia. I'm profoundly deaf, I was born profoundly deaf, that doesn't affect me or anyone in the world, I'm just a normal fella like you guys!
I've been in the concrete trade since September 2007 ever since I've been in the trade I abosoultely love it. It can be hard work, back wrenching work but I love it, this is my kind of job. I used to be on the tools(Concretor) til an opportunity that was to good to pass, the I work for owns the pump decided to sell the pump I wanted to buy it, but I was ill-funded to be able to buy it, there was a few interested people wanting it but all fell through. I talked to my girlfriend(her family runs the company) about buying the pump, few weeks later she owns the pump. Yes a girl owns a concrete pump and she loves the idea of it!!! Thats how I got into concrete pumping. I've been pumping since sometime June 2009, boy the first few weeks were painful since I thought it would be easy to be a linesman, sore arms, sore legs and physically exhausted!!!
Couple months later the operator got "let go" and I had limited experience on operating a pump but that didn't stop me. I said I would operate it but my boss and my missus were well, a bit uneasy since they were worried about me not being able to hear and breaking the pump.
the first couple months were the worst, hair yanking and upsetting times since the pump was left in bad condition by the pervious owner. But thinking about it now it was probably the best that I learnt everything during those times, blockages, S-tube, cutting rings, worn down rubber rings and so on.
The pump went to get a full overhaul and everything sorted out, new paintjob and so on. Ever since the pump has really been a bliss!
Now I understand how everything works, but would still LOVE to learn and listen to other people's advice and even ask for help with anything required. I'm really glad to be part of the world of Concrete pumping, I got to hand out my respect to all the pumpers out there, good job boys, keep pumping on!
I saw a quote from someone's profile here, it said "My heart pumps concrete" I got to agree with that and I can say this proudly...

My heart pumps concrete and will keep on pumping!

Kudos to everyone, you're all good guys and it's a amazing industry to be involved, everyone looks after everyone!

Welcome, Brenden. I like the fact you will take on a challenge, like concrete pumping, without one of your senses. There are times when there is so much noise on the pours that I can't hear what my machine is doing. Without that sense of hearing, I have to look to other ways to make sure the pump is working.... vibration, boom movement etc... The girlfriend owns the pump, eh? nicely done!

By using a rain flap on the exhaust you will be able to see engine RPM

I'm 20 and I'm always on here trying to learn from others so when I get my CDL license and hydraulics license I can use others experience to better myself and set an example in the industry.
