Ricky Bobby is not a thinker...Ricky Bobby is a driver...

Say,

If I remember right, isn't there a double 90 at the tip of the boom?

Here's the bottom line-  Every safety booklet from the ACPA to the machine manufacture says not to put anything other than a single ended tip hose on the end of your boom (unless plugging into system on the ground).  You can run whatever the heck you want - however, should an accident happen and it winds up in a court battle- all fingers will point at you knowing better than to put something other than a single ended hose on the end of your boom.

Accidents don't e-mail you the day before they happen.  So no matter how experienced and how many years you've been running an 'S' bend or something similar, accidents don't give a hoot about that.  They're gonna happen...so, like I said - run what you want on your tip, just remember you knew better...

Raymond is right, no two ways about it.

You are guilty every time you do it. It kind of like running a red light and you say, Well I have been doing it for years, i have never hurt anyone.

Just because you have not hurt anyone does not mean its ok to run red lights.

well I dont operate with steel on the end.. the operators manual says....no but there are so many guys and companys that do it and the sad part is when someone on a ICF wall or floor or what ever gets hit and hurt or worse killed then maybe these people who have been doing it for yrs will get...or not but  a accident will bring about changes...but at what cost and who is the loser....we all are !!!!!!

your right but those are supposed to be stuffed completely in the wall or cassion in turn kind of trapping them .I i use a wall pipe all the time but when i get less than 8 ft from the top of wall i switch back to tip hose

just really confused why this is still an issue,   with all the evidence (  formal industry standards,  examples of legal actions,   operator horror stories, etc. )   just not sure why anyone would still have a doubt in their minds ???????????

Well.... it is like anything else..some learn by example, some learn by free will, some learn that things change and you adapt and move forward... but there will aways be some that will risk it all to either satisfy a customer or no matter how much you say "hey" what you are doing is not cool and it can be lethal but it will take a tragic event for these select few to see the light but by then all the damage is done and it is too late and that is a tragedy on its own

My moto is you never get a second chance to ..... up the first time and that does not just apply to concrete pumping. That may sound harsh and crude but it gets the point accross.

What the hell, did concretesteel edit his post or what!

He did not say anything about running anything on the end of his hose he just asked if putting 2 more elbows on the boom would do anything to slow the concrete.

Raymond had it right when he said there is already double 90s on the end of the boom but then he jumps on concretesteel about putting something on the end of the hose. He did not say anything about putting anything on the end of the hose!

I think a more constructive discuss would be to answer his questions.

Would 2 more 90s slow the concrete down? I do not think so but lets have a little input.

Would running a short tip hose have any unforseen problem?
