KCP Concrete Pumps has finally broken the ice. We have taken the unprecedented decision to not attend the World of Concrete After considering the economic situation and benefit to our customers, we have decided NOT to add thousands of dollars to the cost of our pumps, just to say we attended the show. There have been little to no changes to our ( or any of our competitors) equipment and feel our customers would be better served by spending "quality" time with them, rather than 10 minutes with hundreds of customers who have no intention of purchasing a pump. Our goal is to keep our costs low, and as you are all aware, the show adds thousands of dollars to a pump. I just don't have a customer who wants to pay more for a pump just to have a someone else kick his tires. Although we feel the WOC is a great advertising tool when spread out over a large number of pumps, but when you devide the cost over a much smaller number the cost goes up considerably. The fear is always that when someone does not attend, they are in trouble. Well guess what, the economy is bad for all of us and we must protect ourselves and our customers by making innovative decisions like this. Here's a newsflash, all the manufacturers feel the strain, but none that I know of are failing. Mr. Young and Terry Holmes will be in attendance and available to meet with anyone at any time and we feel you would be better served with this approach. Please give us a call to set up an appointment. Thanks Bob for "planting the seed" on one of your recent posts. Thanks to all in advance and safe pumping. Terry Holmes, KCP America 801-564-1729

KCP All of your customers and future customers should thank you for keeping the cost of your equipment [and parts] low by not making unwise marketing expenditures. This may be a bold move but it makes very good dollars and sense. Good move ;~)

Terry, have mentioned in the past ( numerous times ) about the lack of forward looking LEADERS in this industry. KCP's move to skip the WOC, and the willingness to publicly say why is a great step, and I commend you, Mr. Young and KCP for it. This industry needs major changes to succeed in the future, only those who are willing ( no matter how difficult the choices ) to propose changes will be the future LEADERS Thank you and good luck in the future !!! steve

The show is pointless the year any way? There's very few new products and no one to sell them to. I'm surprised that any manufacturers are even wasting the time and money to get there. I'm only going to get my T-shirt, meet some new friends and the usual craps table and stripper binge? |

If a company chooses not to go to the world of crete i dont see that they need to explain themselves . KCP chose to explain and they did very tactfully and honestly . Thats awesome. But i am sure that there are lots of people like myself who are going for the first time and are very excited to meet the poeple i have talked to for years but never met. I am getting a pump repair business off the ground and look forward to hooking up with suppliers and manufacturer reps. to hpoefully help really run with my company. Just a little positive note. |

I love the show myself, my wife takes a week off and we enjoy each other and hang out with our friends. This year ConcretePumping.com has a booth because we have a new product out. Our Maintenance Magic program. The only Maintenance program that is designed for the pumping industry. We need the show to show it off to all the big boys who go to the show. If the show was in florida I dont even think I would go but Vegas is alot of fun. We got tickets to Elton John and Criss Angle. This is a once in a year event and at least you can go have some fun.

P.S. Todd I hope this doesnt spark a lengthy debate such as the great concord v.s. other pumps debate from about 3 or 4 yrs, ago. WHOOOOO that was a good one. lol |

I love a good debate but i dont see one here. I know KCP is doing what is right for them and their customers. I love those guys and they support this web site. Others who choose to go to the world of concrete do so because they think its the best thing for their company. I know that I would not want to miss the show this year. I go every year and I have not had a booth for years. Its all good so no debate here. |
