Hey gut's I've one pump cylinder that needs resealed (and rechromed) but want to put it off a couple weeks, fairlywell booked next coulpe of weeks. Is it possible to replace the seals (o-ring , backing ring seal gland and scraping ring) and pollish out the scratchs without removing the cylinder to try and buy a little time till Im not giving up to much time with truck down?? Schwing 1200 kit on a 1985.. Its Leaking hyd. fluid in to water box, Don't know exactly how much. Enough that water box over flows after about 200 yds. Thanks |

Easy to change on Schwing, take out bone, remove flange from rod, remove face from cylinder, inside water box, weld or braze 3 or 4 inch wood screw on screwdriver, turn screw tool into packing, yank it out, replace scraper and o-ring,replace packing ,re-install face, flange, and bone.....should take no more than 3-4 hrs.Turn rod in main cylinder weekly so seal does not get damaged too quickly. With a leak as bad as you describe, moisture has a better chance of entering the hyd. system,it might be a good idea to repair as soon as possible. |

SPEEDY; SCHWING SAYS THEY ONLY SELL NEW CYLINDERS AT $6200+ .. DO YOU KNOW A SOURCE? THAT COST VERSES $2000 OR SO TO PULL MINE, MAY JUST REPACK AND HOPE TO GET A COUPLE WEEKS MORE. iVE GOT TWO PROJECTS WITH JUST TWO MORE POURS. THEN IT WONT HURT TO DOWN IT FOR 4 OR 5 DAYS. |
