I am in the process of mounting my line pump on a goose neck trailer. I have seen some sweet setups on here and would appreciate some pictures so i can get a better idea of what to do. I am trying to figure what size trailer to mount it on, where to put the hoses, water tank, and if you mount the pump directly over the axles?

I had mine built like that at first mine was 18 ft at the rear axles but was having turning problems so I cut the gooseneck off and shorten it by 4 ft then rewelded it back together. My water tank hold 250 gallons,my pressure washer sets under the tank, a tool box up on the gooseneck and a 4,000 watt generator in front of it that is for my night pumping safety I have 1- 150 watt quart light on each corner, it really helps you see after night fall, my pump is setting as low as I could get it maybe 2 inchs above the axle and the axles are 7,000 lb each.  Right now I pull with a 2001 V-10 F-350 4X4, I been looking at buying a new Dodge 5500 crewcab 4X4 Deisel has anybody driven one of these trucks, one reason I like them is they had and Engine Brake.

A question for the truck mounted line pumps are your rigs 4 wheel drive.

Mister_Perkins 08-31-2011

@Schwinger.

there is an electronic PTO Box with RPM control in the cab. So you throw it in O/D, pull the Pump Gear on the floor, hit the RPM Control, Set the RPM, and hit the PTO Button and your good to go. The rear panel also has a Wireless Remote wired into it as well so you dont have to stand next to it to operate it.

We had some problems with getting power to the rear panel for a while when we first got it since its all electrical, so we wired a Backup Shift Solenoid cap to a weather safe Electrical Box. Whenever we fail to get power to the rear panel, and its more of a problem than a fuse (such as melting wiring), then we can hook in a 100Ft. Extension cable into the By-pass box, change the shift solenoid cap to the manual by-pass one and finish the job. All in all its a really nice pump.. I really enjoy running it.

i agree with that. Its really nice having everything on one unit. My father ran schwing trailer pumps pulled by a commercial truck for years when he wasnt operating a boom and it was a pain moving that tiny trailer around. With everything on one unit, you dont have to guess where the trailer is going because its attached to the rear of your frame!

I think at least that a linepumpingvehicle has a 4X4- drivingaxles. Even if a mixertruck don´t can drive in the clay to the pump - then the extracost for the 4X4 is coffeymoney. If it was the opposite - then would the 4X4-drive-cost bin a drop in the sea.

I have been stuck one time in 5 years and that time a guy was able to pull me out with his backhoe it was winter the ground was frozen at first but later it melted and then mud.

Mister_Perkins 09-01-2011
reply profile send pm notify

4x4 trucks get stuck in the mud too... If you throw the truck into LowLow, and go slow it helps getting through muddy sites. Worst case is that you will need a bulldozer or skidder to pull you where you need to be. Then same with the redimix (on and off jobs).

Most jobs that are like that though already have something on site such as a bulldozer.

ALMIMA 09-01-2011
reply profile send pm notify

Mister Perkins, you have a piont! But an option to an 4X4 when you buy a pulltruck is appriximately what that pumpjob do in income, that you have to say no thank you to because of there was too much snow or clay. My extra 4X4 on my pullvans to the pumps, costed me 20.000 kr each (about 2500 dollar), but i´ve earn it because of that we have a terrible winterconditions in halfnorth of Sweden - i know that the northtSwedish guy laugh at me when i say that we have very much (1,5 m, about 5 feet) snow in Stockholm in winterseasone. Whith a 2X4-wheeldrived pullvan i´ve have to say no thank you to so many pumpjobs at the winterseasone, that my costumer will seach for another pumpcompany - and it´s impossible for me to afford and build my company to that. That extra cost to get an 4X4 is coffeymoney in the big whole - the key is to make a successful pumpcompany: "do what the naturelawes and the customes wants you to do - if you want to deliver concrete - even if the mole is on the top of Mount Everest". I suppose that it then needs more than a 4X4 - but it is a start....

We own two line pumps. wpt 70 on a 5ton international and a 1000 trailer pulled by a sterling 550 4x4 (same truck your looking at ED).  Hands down truck mounted is the way to go.  smaller footprint on the jobs is the key.  Ice and snow...the tail does not wag the dog.  You can only go as far as the mixer can, throw another hose on and go.  The Sterling is a awesome truck though.

biged 09-02-2011

95  Percent of our mixer all 6X6's they can and do get really stuck every year mainly because the contractors are to cheap to rent me, one stuck truck cost for towing is sometimes more than pumping.

Sorry Dipstick, but a costumer do only understand that the concrete is pouring in their mole. They don´t care about anything else. They are even so dumb that they believe that - if i managed to drive through the clay (4X4) with locked difaxles - "then it´s no problem for a fulloaded mixertruck". But MR Newton do allways do it to a worsejob.

Mister Perkins if You can go to the moon you can get the mud to a pump on tracks.... I have seen mixers on forwarders or AD's even on tracks that goes there a man not can walk . We use to deliver mud and pump it in a mixer that are mounted on a forwarder that pour foundations for powerlines in the wood (much retarder in that mud , it can take 2-3 hour between the loads) . I shall ask that operator if he want to take some pic's . The pump with tracks on, they use to have them when pumping for rotary drilling rigs , here in Euroupe . Or some little knuckleboom on it and used for shootcrete in tunnel or mine , the nossle is remote operated , on those I have seen . I like the green pump mounted on a hooklift , very nice ! Is it Transcrete that has build that pump ?

hey digger, what line pressure is the patriot able of producing?  just asking because i noticed the buttweld bend and reducer  on the the back. 430hp up front, pretty gutsy machine, love the body, nice and neat, every thing hidden with a deck upstairs for the hoses, nice looking rig.

Pezzapump 10-01-2011
reply profile send pm notify

Dont worry about the butt weld i run the same style 90 reducer and pull 4000 psi on the mains daily you will blow a clamp or a hose on the line first.

DIGGER 10-01-2011
reply profile send pm notify

The butt weld reducers are 1/2 inch wall and heat treated, so they perform well. The Blue rig has 9 inch x 96 inch concrete cylinders with 6 inch hydraulic cylinders on the piston side line pressure can be up to 2,272 psi.

We also have a 6 1/2 option on the piston side that gives 2,577 psi line pressure. All the high pumps come with 2,500 psi water blasters and redio remote blow out systems. We also a hydraulic line shut off valve to close off the vertical 5 inch line so that the sponge ball can be fitted. The side doors fold down to access 15 x 4 inch pipes each side. These pumps have been developed for Sydney central business district high rise pours where the City requires the pump and transit mixer to be off road. They do not allow mixers to wait curbside, so they have to circle the job site. It takes longer to change mixers than to pump a load, that's why they require 170M3 pumps. Most jobs have a tower boom.

25' 3'' is to long.. To hard to handle. I have 10' hoses and love those. Easy to empty and pick up on your own. But maybe thats a bit too short I don't know. Maybe 15 feet would work to but 25 is just too much. maybe one 25 ' as endhose is nice to have but the rest should be shorter. (is my opinionWink)

b-alto 11-06-2011

Terry just make sure you handle the hose right don't throw your back out. Leave the hose on the ground and point with a strap or handle. I made one about 30" long with a tee handle and a flat tee on the bottom in line with the hose then i strap it to the hose with a double tie wire.
