I was lied to about wind speeds on Tuesday. I was told by the Super. that we were only taking 40-45 mph. At the end of the pour I was talking to the tower crane operator and he said it was 54 mph. To make it worse the wind was hitting my boom broad side. Lied to just so they could finish the pour.

If the wind speed is 45mph, is that at ground level, and does the wind speed increase as you go higher, say 150 ft up?

sorry, couldnt resist earlier.  on a serious note, you would think that on pumps with 40m+ booms, a wind speed indicator would be fitted as standard??

I may have lied about wind speeds a time or two??? While standing white knuckled on top of a placing boom and trying to catch 4 way rigging when it's blowin like a bastard... Pump OFF it aint fly'n today!

Hey Too Tall,

A storm came up when I was trying to attach a placing boom onto a barge. The boom was swinging and the pedestal was rocking with the barge. Now that was HAIRY

Well it is in your book that came with the pump on what the max wind speeds are for your pump on the pump i use to operate it was 76 kph but if you have to pump in windy areas always try to pump into the wind not with it and if it is straight up just dont...... I seen alot of pictures of pumps that are on there side because of weak minded operators
