hey i was just wondering how do you guys prime your pump and line if you are using your boom pump for a line job. what i've always done is primed my boom first then attached the end hose to the rest of the system, poured a slurry into the outlet and rolled the hose back to get the slurry to where the concrete is. is there a better way? this works most of the time but if i have more than 50-60' attached it plugs up quite often. also what kind of slurry do you use? i used to use cement but lately i've been using slick pak.

Dude just prime the pump with the same stuff you would prime your system with. Any time you prime hoses its way better prime then what you use to prime a pump. Slick pack is ok for prime 50ft of hose but good rule of thumb is anything after you should use slurry or bettnite. I had a 140ft of system on the end of a 31m boom truck. The line was 3" with a long 5' to 3' reducer. The contractor did not order slurry. I told him that we can try it with extra slick pack but cant promise anything. what happened, It plugged up at the 8th hose. We had to add 2 hose from there on out. If it were me anything over 60ft would have slurry and tell the contractor its worth the it to spend a 100 bucks to save the time and hassle of beating and putting togetrher hoses as well as paying his crew the hour it could take to do all this. Godd luck bro and PUMP ON.

On a job yesterday for a patio in the back yard I had 70' on the end of my 32. Used a sponge as my rabbit ahead of a slick pack plus 10 gallons of water mixed well and let sit for 10 min. Primed the boom and system at the same time. We have good sand and rock here, 5 1/2 sack at a 6" slump no problems.... Depending on the crete you have but I've done the same with over a 100'. Good luck

never had much luck with slick pack, bentonite is hit a miss but lime was allways a winner. otherwise segerating the rock out of concrete mix is the best.

last week I was line pumping and primed 200" of 4inch line with about 4 or 5 gallons of water. and could do it everyday here. i told the contractor not to order slurry, and it went all the way through! 2 weeks ago i primed a 39 meter and 100" of 4 inch with about 5 gallons or so of water. i used good crete though.
