But, I want to educate myself as much as possibe, especially on rainy days like today. Also, gives my experienced partner who is not so internet savy to read and learn during downtimes. Any video, books, etc. recommendations would be great. I've lurked on the site for a couple weeks and you guys have some great info. Thanks!

Art, We run Mayco Line Pumps 2006 LS60 (upto 1/ 1/2" Rock) and a newly refurbished 3060 (Pea Gravel). It's nice to have the manufacture just around the corner from us. The LS60 can run up 3" Line with 1 1/2 pump mix. We have over 50 ft of 4" Slick lines and I believe over 250ft of each 3", 2-1/2" and 2" hose for our LS60 and over 250 of 2" for our 3060 peagravel pump. Yes, we have a good relationship with our redi-mix plant, but sometime we work directly with the contractors and don't know where the mix is coming from, and have had some bad mixes (clogs easily). We use water and bentonite mix to prime with. We usually use no more than 250', common is 150' to 200' of hose on our jobs, I'm a new newbie in the pumping business, but my partner has over 10 years. I'm the office guy, but I like to go out on jobs, so I can learn the operations side (and help keep overhead down). I really want the guys to have updated information to make our jobs SAFE and effecient. Yes, I visited the ACPA and will be joining that organization. Thanks All!

During my converstaion with redi-mix plants and contractors I've learned to ask "is it a line pump mix" and not assume it is. I turned down a big job with the same scenario you illustrated Art, just didn't seem right especially during a long pour. Thank you for all your support guys (and gals).

PM,

Funny you mention that when I had our pea gravel refurbished, I had it blasted and repainted and she get's alot nice comments, sometimes people thinks she brand new.  It was money well spent, now the trick is keeping her looking good.

Thats true, we have painted a few that a month later you wouldn't have even known it. Operators didn't even take care of them.

just a lil secret, take a spryer and mix water and tide with bleach 50-50 spray it on in the mourning and after the job wash her clean. $22.00 spent well to keep her clean. i owned a  olin 5-65 had over 1000 hrs on it in three years and sold her for almost what i paid. a lil paint in spots and that was it.
