its because my boots wore a hole in the front and concrete got inside. I was wearing proper ppe but i didn't notice until it started to itch and at that point it was too late. it happens. you just have to make sure your rubber boots don't have holes in them.. lol

for me concrete does not burn unless its somewhere that it can rub. like a shirt sleeve or inside a boot. that's the only time I've ever gotten a concrete burn is if it is at a point where it can rub against the skin

http://www.ask-curtis.com/can-applying-vinegar-neutralize-a-skin-burn-from-concrete/

In the old days I also learned the hard way how bad cement burns were, I was told to rinse with white vinegar to neutralize the burn and then to wash, I had a spray bottle in the pump and was the center of attention after pours, guys would line up for a spray on hands and boots, Yes boots they are leather "skin" and the cement is what is cracking them as well.

Once the burn is stopped then wash and lotion , and oil your boots, If you use no  vinegar and apply lotion you hold the High PH in.

Read the link to understand more, it worked well for me.

This is a good read as well.

I see a lot of guys in Tennis shoes mucking concrete, shorts and no gloves, most of the time these are residential type jobs with loose regulations for PPE.

It might be a good Idea to print a copy of the Osha info to help to educate the folks that dont know.

you got it tech.

ALWAYS carry WHITE VINAGAR in the pump.  stinks but nutralizes cement burns.

that burn is going to suck for a good two months if you have to keep workin

Yeah, I really dont think vinegar would have really done a whole lot because I didn't realize I had a hole in the front of my rubber boot until my foot started itching. At that point, it was already burned. Washed it off with water and it was already blistered up.

It's actually not that bad today. I've been washing it, and applying a triple antibiotic with wrapping to keep it covered. healing up nicely. I'll get over it.

in the mean time, I've bought a new pair of boots ..... lol
