BANGALORE: A Metro project employee died on Sunday morning following an accident on August 3.
Pijush Kanti Sil, 42, of the electrical supply maintenance division of Reach 2 (Magadi Road to Mysore Road terminal) for BMRC, was repairing a concrete pump. M Muniyappa, a resident of Nayandahalli, said when Pijush stuck his right hand into the machine, it automatically started and crushed his palm. "On hearing his screams, I rushed to the spot which was 20 ft from my house. We had to smash the machine to remove his hand," he said.
In the FIR filed by Pijush's co-worker Poorna Chandra Singh, 37, at Bytarayanapura police station, Singh said Pijush was repairing a concrete pump on Wednesday at Nayandahalli Junction pier number 435 at 9am. At 11.30am, the metal plate that closes the pump fell on his right wrist. "I and other other Metro workers immediately took him to Manipal Hospital at Rajarajeshwari Nagar . We also informed his wife. On Thursday, we shifted him to Manipal Hospital on Airport Road. He died at 9.50am on Sunday," Singh said.
