Does anyone have conflicts with mixer drivers? How are mixer drivers in other places? Are they lazy or do they try to make life harsh? Have they intensionally plugged the pump up? Have they ever tried to make a problem like coming up to you to argue? Has nothing ever escalated into something you have no control over? Are there problem drivers in your area? I have delt with almost all these issues. It is becoming as real as can be. We are faced with issues that can cause high stress in this industry, including and not limited to mixerdrivers. The S.W.P.P. and E.P.A has made this life somewhat difficult in this region. The level of stress is very high. It use to be the number of hrs per day that we had to deal with. It caused alot of problems especially in marriages. Now it causes job issues also. Does anyone think that company counselers should be offered? I mean i dont know what the solution is. But in this corporate world we live in with companies getting larger. It seems like its out of control and the operator is becoming a victom of all circumstances. Does anyone have any info or feedback on this issue? :confuse:I cant get no satisfaction ~! |

Thats just it. Butting Heads ! How would you feel if you couldnt say nothing or do nothing ? Then you were reponsible for the mess on the street or the guy that got hurt ? If this is your company, Then after all that the ready mix co. came buy and let you know this may end your relationship with them and it could possibly end your relationship with other major companies. This could very well be a major problem. As for the average Boom Operator, This is a major concern and a major pain in the butt. Stress level goes through the roof. And the you come back tomarrow to do it all over again. The problems are sever enough to jepordize your job. What do you do? Just let drivers walk on the grate to clean out? Let them dump mud on the ground. Let them come up to you and talk to you in any fashion they want. You can call there boss or call yours which does nothing. Thats why i am wondering about some kind of Pump Awareness program for mixer drivers. If your the contractor that only pours out 7 trucks a week then its not really that much of a problem. But some of us pump 30-50 loads a day ! Any way . Does anyone have an idea on how to get this Awareness thing going? And i mean nationwide ! Or is it going to be passed on because of politics and lawyer issues. How did the ACPA start? They got financial backing from somwhere. Any info would be great. This issue could possibly be my new line of work :confuse: Or maybe for someone smarter than me ;) I cant get no satisfaction ~! |

Hey mudslinger, you must have some pretty GREEN mixer drivers there! Not wanting to dispute your adventures, but like said I drove mixer for 14 years, was GLAD pull on pump job. Not easy as looks, remember once contractor showed me where to get into job site, only noone told him or me about septic tank that didnt hold truck. Had to unload 9 yds concrete with wheelbarrows. Believe me not easy as looks, but I still see some REAL dummies as mixer drivers, I just try explain to them my side and listen to theirs. Was shop steward when quit mixers so think I can talk the talk they can listen to. Hope you have better luck with them. Everybody benefit then |

It seems that is might end up one day that all jobs pupmed on the street or pavement will need catch pans under them due to the stupidity of redimix drivers. |

That is why I love commercial work. People are accountable for thier own actions there. I know when I am up on the 6 floor of a building I am not gonna run down after every load and see if the driver spilled anything. Something needs to be done about the qualifacations of mixer drivers. |

With respect to problems with the mixer drivers and how they affect the operators there really is not a lot we can do individually. But what we could do is set up another website, Todd could maybe do this off of Concrete Pumping .Com ( I just checked and MixerDrivers.com is available if you can believe that), and we could keep an ongoing record of the Bad Guys and the Aces. What we could do then is set up as mass email to ready mix companies all across the country every month, telling them to check the site, a see the comments about good and bad drivers posted by us the operators. Since we have the delivery slips we have the company, the truck, and the name. What could happen is that the ready mix company owners may want to make them selves look better and may create a |

The cab for the MR688 is being re-designed. The prototype was shown to Mack dealers a few months ago and they expect to launch the changes in the 2008 model year (March-2007 delivery) |

O thats scary. Well then , we are in the same boat! I recently got in a better boat. Its gettin crazy here in California. Work ethics are changing and companies are loosing employee value. Thats ok though. I can deal with it as i know why the changes are occuring. ( Can you show the mixer driver where the pump is ? ) |
