Nice shots, so what do most placing boom operators prefer, Z or Roll and Fold, I\'ve run both and liked the R&F as long as the tower crane was high enough to clear it and the sagging cable, It got very close a few lifts. |

The guys that work placing boom all the time seem to prefer the z-folds. They do come in handy when working in close proximity to the tower cranes... |

i ran a 38z for ten months out at the city center project in vegas. i think there is no place for z booms on buildings. i was always in the steel and ripped a hydrolic line off cuz the iron workers would have the steel so high. plus the contractor wouldnt jack the tower crane as often cuz i was so low. one time i had to run my boom with the main down and z my last 3 section cuz the tower crane was running bukets over me. and another time the tower crane hit me. it was very un safe. i am so glad i am off that job. good money but not worth it. they have had 5 deaths on that job in less than a year. |
