I am getting ready to change mud cups on a 98 Putz 36. Any suggestions on the procedure or process?

Thanks,

Seed

Hey

Well it is not hard but it time consuming and you might find yourself bending in weird posistions but basically you do it through the water box you have to remove the dog bones Piece of steel between the cups and the cylinder and pull them out through the box. Be carefull not let any thing slide down the shaft Now when you put the new ones in make sure you use the grease that comes with them to put them in or use hydraulic oil before you install them look in the cylinders to see if there are any large wear scrapes if there are dont put in the new cups. If you see alot of damage inside well your job just got 10x larger because now you have to pull it all apart and get new cylinders or get the ones you have relined/chromed.

I have done 2 sets one set took 3 hrs the second set took 2 days. I hope for you it is around the three hr mark.

MOST IMPORTANT MAKE SURE YOUR BOOM IS SUPPORTED IF YOU ARE ONLY RAISING IT ENOUGH TO DO THE JOB AND MAKE SURE,SURE,SURE THAT YOU KEEP THE KEYS IN YOUR POCKET so no one can start up your truck. It is basically a one man job but try to have someone there to watch out for your safety and to help you......

Lastly cursing and swareing has been known to come with job....lol

38zman, you are all right. You got me laughing this morning. Good job. Thanks for helping out Seed. He is a good guy. I was wondering if anyone lives close to him to show him how to do it the first time?

Anyway Seed make sure you follow the manufactures instructions also. Do Manufactures have instructions? if so do you have them?

Thanks 38! I have a real good service provider and the manual. I enjoy posting questions like this. This site is a good resource and I always get good advice from the collective minds here.

Thanks All!
