It never seems to plug in the hose, always in your reducer. Even if the hose did plug up Im sure it wouldnt be hard to free up. I know that trying to lay a M.S on the ground and wash it out SUCKS, Best thing is to unhook clamp and leave the saftey strap hooked up put a little water in the hose and then use ur boom to pick the hose up. Waaaay better than fighting it on the ground in my opinion. |

Whore - Why are you manually cleaning it out? Do you guys pump through it laying on the ground for line jobs? |

mr. P... If you cant get a plug in your reducer hose out, take it off, wash it out and use your oil sprayer or whatever you use to oil your hopper. Its like a good k-y jelly, a couple good strokes from your hammer and it will come out!!! |

if this new mudsnake is anything like the ones we had last year, they are a bear to clean out, the mud doesnt slide out with gravity. when you disconnect it from the reducer it is still about 50% full of concrete. you shake what you can but you cant just shoot water threw it like a regular hose. I would HATE to be the guy cleaning out a 40 footer like you were talking about the other day. If you got a sharp enough fin chunk, i wonder if it would cut the side of the M.S. |

The mud snake collapses but not all the way like the older lay flat hose, ive been able to let the boom drain and suck a bucket to get the snake clean then touch it up on the ground. You see the snake lays flat but not all the way about 1" left open and i don't reverse it full speed just enough suction works. Work what's that anymore seriously cleaning out a 15 to 30lb anything sign me up in this economy ill do anything with pride if it keeps me employed. No real disrespect but common guys if this gives you an edge above your competitor and creates work what's the big deal with a little extra effort. |

WHO?? | 08-01-2009 | reply profile send pm notify |
WOW Fella's these things are REALLY easy to clean out......What I do I LEAVE it hooked to the reducer,Turn my 90's up and stuff a sponge in there, then while the reducer is still attached with the cable to the boom I lift it so that I can fill it with water once I have the reducer full of water I just slowly lift it off the ground untill it drains out of the end of the hose,Repeat as needed its SUPER easy and works great!! |

I can name that tune in 3 notes. One would be amazed at how easy a pipe/hose can be emptied by using the boom after clean. |

I have just used 8" elephant truck in the past . It comes in fifty foot rolls. I just cut it to length and band it over the end of the ruducer and when done just throw it out. I only do this when pumping walls and have the laborers cut it (Shorten) after each lift that way its not hanging to high above them. |

As far as plugging in a M.S.it self goes ,when used in the wrong application its just going to burst before before you get the pump shut off. |

Not exactly true Ill take a mud snake over some backwoods hose banded water line any day. You realize this is tested to have high burst pressure. You should really research the burst ratings to the right in the MS bar you and then rate it to your non rated danger hose?
Here is the info on the new hose I was telling you about. I feel that besides the obvious usefulness of this kind of design for tight access walls etc. , the safety advantages are even more significant . The hose can replace the use of pipe and even standard placement hose in many cases . T he working and bursting pressure of the Mudsnake at 1200psi /2500psi substantially exceeds that of 666psi / 2000 on a standard discharge hose and 800psi/2400 on wire braided hose . T he weight factor , when considering common accident s in the form of hose whippings back injuries etc. , should have a positive impact on our industry as a whole as well. The comparisons o f the weight of the 4 ” Mudsnake compared to other commonly used 4 ” hoses are as follows . Mudsnake 1.28lbs/ft . Fabric discharge hose 3.3lbs/foot . Wire braid hose 5.4lbs/ft. Nine gauge pipe 6. 8lbs/ft. The selling price is expected to be competitive ranging somewhere between a fabric and wire braided hose. Thanks in advance for your help in getting this information out through the most dynamic media in our industry ConcretePumping.com
