Reducing hoses are no good.. We've had that discussion already a few times ;-) Try putz. Pin Poor... Or some guys reduce first in steel and then use a 4'' or even less end hose.. I'm not a fan of that eighter but I am sure its safer than a reducing hose...

Why is a reducing endhose dangerous: Picture you're pumping with full hose.. So the whole system is full of crete.. Than there comes a large stone that just doesn't fit through the end of the reducing hose.. Within a split second the pressure will build up so high that it will force the blockage through the end of the hose anyway and all the pressure releases at once.

Anyone correct me if you have good arguments to proof I'm wrong ;-)

I've never had a problem with the reducing hose, but I'm not saying they can't. The pours I use them on are 100+ yard an hour. But they seem to do fine with the splatter. I wouldn't use them if your going slow.

I used to use a 5-4 reducing hose all the time and I loved it. Never had a problem with it plugging really. The rubber has some give and expands It seems. By expanding it allows the plug to move thru without building that much pressure. I'm sure there are extreme circumstances but I never had a problem. Just kinks really easy so don't let the hoseman get too crazy pushing it.

I can imagine from 5 to 4 is not such a big problem... The hoses i've seen where from 5 to 3''.. Thats a different story i think..
