Hey California Operators. I am currently an operator in the DFW area. I need some stability. We are such slaves to the weather here. What is the industry like out there. I know you guys typically have decent weather in southern california. Would it be worth coming out their and running a pump. Are the wages good?

Thanks for the advice in advance

I am considering a move to the DFW area i have the same questions to ask you.  What is a good company to work for there?

I do know that housing is a fortune to buy in ca but the wages are around 30.00 an hour in northen ca.  i think they are more down south.  there has been plenty of work there though.

JLS Concrete Pumping in So Ca,

Conco Concrete Pumping in No Ca,

Berkeley Concrete Pumping in No Ca,

Western Concrete Pumping in So Ca,

Merli Concrete Pumping in So Ca,

Flemming Concrete Pumping in So Ca,

Here are the companies that I would recommend, top companies, always have work and they have a great rep. Now there are many other great companies in California and i am sorry you did not get a mention but these guys pump most of the concrete around here.

Good luck.

Rook,

The wages in DFW are somewhat lower even for experienced pumpers. Max pay is about 23-25 per hour. Average pay for experience is somewhere around 20/hr. Housing is much cheaper as well as cost of living. Also no state tax to worry about. I recommend

Vista Ridge

Brundage Bone

Tri-way

Central Concrete Pumping

I believe they all have websites. Vista Rdiges main number is 972-316-0148

Hope that helps. Times are slow right now. We are actually having a winter.

I probably did not spell it out clearly enough. They contractors around here don't want to pour. I am more then willing to pour in any conditions. Several morning this week I get halfway to the job and they cancel because its to cold, drizzley or some stupid thing like that. I am just sick of it. When you are trying to support a family it makes it difficult. Thats why we are slaves to the weather. Its not a matter of being tough enough, its a matter of money. Nice try to Hi-jack--but I am not easily riled up.

If you are interested in working in the mountains.  Try Almanor Custom Concrete in Chester CA.  Work 9 months out of the year, then draw 3 months max unemployment compensation, and then go play in the snow, or head to baja.   From what I see pay wise, it pays more up in this area that in some of the cities....

Der--How hard do they run in the 9 months? I just need some stability. Not working one week to 30 or 40 hrs another. Its killing everyone out here. I know this business has its downtimes--but geez I have never seen it this slow even in the winter. Thanks for the insight, I will definitly do some research on them.

Pumpers in this area work about 60 hours a week.  April thru early December.  If you are not pumping you are doing maintenance of course, on your pump.  Expect about $24-$29 per hour wages depending on how many hats you can wear.  Small companies like a pumper that can batch, run a transfer, run a mixer, turn some wrenches etc when not pumping or working on the pump.
