I am sure you will get many guys here that will help you but i would say yes wash your pump. A clean pump always looks better. I would wash it at least once a week. Use soap and water and for the hard spots use a degreaser.

Scroll back a few discussion, we had one recently above different types of degreasing agents available. I currently wash my pump about 2 or 3 times a week at a local car wash/with a truck bay. If you keep the pump well oiled and are careful about placing a sponge in the end hose when folding up, you can keep it relativly clean. MY suggestion is to purchase a pressure washer that also has the abiliy to incorporate soap. Use it to blast of the back end, but be careful on your cab etc because the stickers and paint scheme will tend to start to break down with constant use.

When i water wash i put my splash board on and pump the hopper down till im stroking air. i fill the hopper up to the top of the rubber then i take two strokes and fill it up again. i put my volume about half way and the RPMs about the same. pump until you see water coming out of the tip hose and then put it into reverse and it brings everything back. Personally i think water washing makes to big of a mess (unless you put it back in the redi-mix truck) and takes to much water. I prefer the "bucket wash" i just keep the bucket on my truck and fill it up when i fill the truck up with water. if im not sure about how clean my pipes are i just suck a sponge back.

Sorry,

I misread the question. Thought that one was to easy lol. Their is extensive documentaion on water washing in the useful articles section. Also I would recommend sponge water sponge. I have never had a problem with that method, boom always comes out clean for the next pour.
