It's a tractor-trailer unit. there is a pony motor on the gooseneck to provide hydraulic power to the drum. The newer units that the big RM producers use have the hydraulic power drawn from the tractor. To have the pony motor provides some flexibility for smaller producers, The tractor is free to haul gravel without the weight penalty of the big hydraulic system, when RM deliveries are slow.
