Nextel has done more harm to our industry than dirty hydraulic oil. If you want to know who the pump operator is, just look for the guy that has the phone wedged between his head and his shoulder. Nextel YACK FEST is a safety hazzard. |

Be smart Bob get a handsfree device so you don't have to do silly things like that. Or better yet don't answer till you get a break

I remember when we had 800 trucking units. That was really nice because we could always hear what was going on with everyone and I even learned a few things listing to the older guys. |

One of the most stressful sounds for an operator is the "Alert" signal going off at 4:00 in the afternoon! Beep-Beep-Beep!!! Almost as stressful as the sound of your dispatchers voice blaring over the the old loud-speaker. It was fun to listen to the guys that were lost and late getting yelled at. But it sure is nice to "one-touch" the contractor for directions and instructions. |

Bob, thats unfair just to single out nextel, its cellphones in general that is a problem, when operating please do not use cellphones, nextels, this is a serious safety hazard,it should be placed right up there with hose whippings and not to mention driving a pump while using cellphones is very hazardous how many accidents have been caused by cellphone use if people, operators will be honest there will be more posts on this subject than there is about the more controversial issues on this site DE hoses, waterwashing, etc. |
