So, is it really cool to wear your hard hat backwards if everybody does it?  WTF?

I'm thinking maybe if it's raining, it might be practical to keep the water from running down your neck.   It's safety gear, why is it ok to wear it backwards?  RTFM

Maybe it would realy be a fashion statement to wear your fall protection harness backwards too.  Come on, be a rebel.

Before I decided to post this, I did a quick search and found this:

Hard Hats Worn Backward
There is considerable confusion and misinterpretation about whether OSHA allows hard hats to be worn backward. An OSHA Standard Interpretation and Compliance Letter dated July 22, 1992, states, "Because ANSI only tests and certifies hard hats to be worn with the bill foreword (sic), hard hats worn with the bill to the rear would not be considered reliable protection and would not meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.100 (a) and (b) unless the hard hat manufacturer certifies that this practice meets the ANSI requirements."

Prior to allowing employees to wear their hats backward, always get written verification from the hard hat manufacturer on whether your hard hat model has been tested and found to be compliant to the requirements of the American National Standards Institute standard when worn with the bill turned to the rear. The manufacturer may specify that proper performance requires the suspension to be reversed in the helmet, so that the headband is oriented normally to the wearer's head (i.e., with the brow pad against the forehead and the extended nape strap at the base of the skull). In this manner, only the shell of the helmet is positioned backward on the head.

So, I suppose the HH manufacturers would really like it if you did wear them backwards, it lets them off the hook.

Sorry for the hijack, but it's one of my pet peeves.

Well I guess you'll be able to fall back on a career with the "fashion police" if need be.

I'm just kiddin' ya.

I see people wearing them both ways, and as long as the liner is facing the right direction, I don't see much of a safety issue.

Hey Brando

Nice job for a cold, rainy Friday... I'm suprised pumpdonkey didn't comment on the hoodies under the hard hats... If he filled out his profile we might find out he pumps someplace were it's always sunny and warm...

Keep up the good work...

Big T

Hey pump honkey...Wanna wine about something else??  Perhaps the fact that if you stare @ the sun to long you'll hurt your eyes.  I don't know that sounded about equally as b.s. to me as your quote about Wering your lid backwards.  If the liner is faceing the rite direction whats it matter?  It doesn't.  Case in point the full brimed hard hats.

I know the steel guys do it all the time but, they do it out of neccessity  for their welding masks. Im more interested in the female concrete workers myself the one is a little hottie. I have a couple on some of my crews and, we always joke about them playing with my hose.

Yeah, I pump in the TROPICAL part of CANADA, (as stated in my profile that I did fill in.  The rest is on a need to know basis, and YOU, sir, do not need to know.

IT IS NOT BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU "LOOK COOL" IT MAKES IT ALOT EASIER TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON OVERHEAD. Nothing looks cooler than a having your hardhat fall off the back of your head while your looking up!

Pump operators spend more time than most looking UP. With the bill in the front the further you have to bend your neck. The longer the stick the further you're lookin!

Rookies may spend more time staring skyward but even an ole salty dog spends more time looking up than most people.

Great job with the pictures, Really don't care about how some guys hard hat is worn and what does it matter to pumpers but what puzzled me was all the stairs at the back of the pump, are all the spinner drivers in seattle short? If not you all sure spoil them. Just an observation.

If it's raining and I put my rain jacket on, should i zip it up, or leave it un zipped. Or does it depend on whether I've got the rain pants on as well. if I wear the the rain pants, should i wear rubber boots? or can i still wear my leather work boot? If I wear the rubber boot, should the rain pant go inside the rubber boot? If I put the rain pants on the outside of the boot, should I duct tape the rain pant to the outside of the boot? Oh, and one more thing. if i get frikin wet! can I sue some one! Killer video!

Filled out your profile... hmmm... looks kind of blank to me but then again, I don't need to know. Since you're so concerned about safety pumpdonkey, why don't you put up some pictures of your transition cover, safety straps etc...
