A USA configured Putz 63m has 97,800 # (pounds) of weight (force) on the front outriggers I am told that the round factory pads have 785 sq inches of contact area So if we divide 97,800 by 785 the answer is 124.58 pounds per square inch of down force. So IF you are set up on a solid rock, (natural rock formation) made of brittle weathered rock... you are OK. If you are not------- then----- you are NOT SAFE Please be safe. ;~) |

at the end of the day cat works for the biggest concrete pumping company in the uk and a 63 is a major investment for any company so i dont think they would let him set is pump up un safe the man knows his machine let him be and less of the snide remarks of the unsafe operator bit there are only two 63s in the uk and he drives one off them dosent that say somthing to you! |

Boat Guy, I dont know who the comments about sitting in a office was directed at but I run a 45m and a 38m on a daily basis and I am operations manager, and have run the only 58m in our area, all I'm saying IS FROM THE PICTURE it looks a little lite on dunnage Cat was there he made the call and the job sounds like it went well, I could put a bunch of pictures up on the site that would raise safety issues, and if I did I would gladly take the heat, and no I haven't pumped in England but I have pumped alot of places in the US so just like Cat would make comments about my pictures we made comments about his I dont think he is a unsafe operator I just think his picture LOOKED lite on dunnage, pictures are put on this site to be viewed and discussed if you dont want that then dont put'm up we are all here to share our experiences with each other sometimes we're going to disagree thats life and thats learning from each other isn't that what this site is supposed to be for. |

As with all things involving a language, different words represent different degrees or levels of a similar thing or act. Safe is what I am all about; adequate is never quite good enough. We are all making judgments here. Yes, the set up was adequate. The proof being that the machine did the job. My personal level of safe is safe, reliable and with in the safety standards established by what is in the I could do the totally inappropriate math and say that today I spoke with the boss of a company that owns and operates three of those same machines and numerically, proportionally trumps your English numbers. His opinion is that he had better never catch his operators in that position, and never has. Rationalize your actions to yourself or each other. He was well outside the specs. If you were honest with yourself, you would admit it. |

I cant belive this topic is still on going,
I have been an operator in the UK for the last 8 years for so. Prior to that I drove a mixer and worked with The Cat a few times on various machines.
I now operate anything from a 34x to a 47/5 and can assure you that I shall never be posting any pictures on this site.
On any other forum on any other topic what happens here on this site would be considered 'flaming' there are a few people who are so outspoken they feel that they must lay the boot in to everyone that falls below their high expectations.
Thanks but i would appreciate those people either keeping their opinions to themselves or just simply toned it down.
