Sorry for all the questions but i want an honest answer and i know you guys will give it to me. My father and I are looking at getting a bigger pump because one of our 32M pumps just got tied up on 700 houseslabs. So we need another to handle our usual work and not have to turn anything down. I was wondering what is the diffrence in mobility between and 39m and a 42m. And as an experinced pumper which would you rather run? does the extra axles make it Alot harder to drive? and any other things i should know when comparing the two would be great!!!! |

You don't want a 42M. Out dated, much harder to drive and manuveur than a 39M. Setup space is very similar due to the footprints and the way the outriggers open. Get the 39M you won't be sorry. |

John, I do not know where you are located, maybe things in your area are going great guns. In general, most areas are in a slow down mode. I would think twice about new debt. Those 700 houses may turn into 70 with the rest put on hold. Even if all 700 are a go, they will not pay for a pump. Check with the large builders in your area. Here in Atlanta (last year) it was not unusual for a builder of large sub-divisions to 'spec' build up to 15% of a sub-division. These days if it is not sold it is not built. Be careful. ;~) |

I am pretty sure the money was already awarded and the contract has been signed to start 350 house slabs at an air force base here, and 350 at another about an hour away. a large percentage of our work is on milatary bases. Our work is boming but largly in part to my fathers placing company. |

It depends on your needs. Are you looking to make a statement or add to your bottom line? If your work consists of large pours (500+) in a highly competitive market I would spend the money and get the 39 meter. If your company is already established and your need more versitility I would get a 42. The 39 is a great machine, the best that Schwing has designed since the 42. Easy to manuever and operator friendly, with great reach. On the other hand the 42 is a proven workhorse. It is bullet proof, it was manufactured with the same basic design for 17 years and is the best selling long boom in the history of concrete pumping. Unmatched stability, excellent reach and easy to operate and maintain. It would be safe to say that the 42 meter Schwing has placed more concrete the world over than any other unit, ever! It also has standard pipe, elbows and 45s; the only extended 90 is the one coming out of the turret. To re-pipe a 39 cost alot more. As you can tell I am a big fan, in my opinion it is the greatest concrete pump ever produced. It goes back to your needs. Both are great machines. Do you want to spend 500K on a 39 and get a great unit? Or do you want to spend 300K to get a '95 or '96 42 and make a great profit?
