The accident occurred yesterday in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François raises questions over safety arrester bed that could not stop a heavy vehicle in difficulty. Yan Turnbull, 32, from Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon was killed after his truck has finished its run at the bottom of a small ravine.

For the second time in less than three years, Jean-Baptiste Bouchard sees Truck land behind his house. "A bed is supposed to stop off and it has not stopped," he started. A bed stop he calls launching pad. The resident difficult to understand why another tragedy occurs there. In December 2010, the effective portion of security was in doubt. A survey and analysis were made to come to the conclusion that the arrester bed was safe. MTQ had nevertheless added concrete blocks and barrels of protection at the end. forced to admit that the debate is now revived. "When there is loss of life, I feel that people take more seriously. I hope that the recommendations will be severe, serious and that the Department of Transport will be responsible for the future, "said Mr. Bouchard. At the municipality, the pressure will be made to the MTQ to improve safety. "There is definitely a problem," stated Mayor Gerald Maltais. What we notice is the large distance between the brake check area, which is at the top of the hill, the bed of stop which is much lower. You have to go about four kilometers to the section of security. "For the length of the coast is in Petite Riviere, I think we should look at the possibility of a second bed to stop the height of the Chemin de la Martine, "said Mr. Maltais. too early to draw conclusionsSide of MTQ, it is too early to know if lessons will be learned. The investigation continues. "We must see if the stop bed was in good condition, then what is the circumstances in which the accident occurred," said the spokesman, Jacques Nadeau. He adds that there few weeks, a truck bed used the same stop. The infrastructure was consistent.

It makes me mad that this is the second time this Arrester Bed was used and the truck made it all the way through and launched over the hill. Why dont they fix it. This is a picture of the end of the Arrester Bed.
