at a boy--great to see you get to spend time with the younger generation. I love stream/river fishing. seems like ages since I have had time to break out the fly rod. For today you are officially me and my oldest sons' hero--he saw that and wants me to take him fishing this weekend. LOL

The first couple of years it was really difficult teaching him.  All the snagged lines, broken lines, re-tieing hooks, him getting dejected and wanting to just throw rocks...etc, etc.  But now it is all worth it, to see the happy look on his face and the excitement of landing his own fish.  You live in Texas, man that is mecca for fishing.  I remember when I lived in Texhoma, the fishing was great.....just do it!!!

That bring back memories of my pride and joy (oldest grandson) when he caught his first. That is truely what makes all those hot/cold days at work worthwhile.Personal fullfilment, commitment to family.I envy you.

My sons first fish was a 6 pound yellow cat, caught at Lake Limestone near Buffalo TX. It was one of those kodak moments. Still almost brings tears to my eyes. He was so proud and he still talks about it 2 years later. We also caught a 32 pound cat on a jug line that could have swallowed him at the time lol. He really talks about that "monster" fish. Good stuff Der
