The hose for sure. I have been using them for the past 4 years and, can count the times it has been blocked on my one hand. A mixer driver really has to be trying to block one. With it though you have to be more alert though as some minor plugs will shoot through and whip the hose. We are supposed to get a 5x3 too soon. |

My opinion....... I like a 5to4 hose,On my 47 I have 4.5 inch pipe from the 3rd section out. With the 5to4 I feel like since the hose is flexable on the end,Anything that gets throught the fourth section will slide easily through the 5to4.Where a 5to4 REDUCER might just hang on to what ever gets into it just long enough to build pressure and spit it out,Whipping the hose and what not.The realatively small diameter change from the 4.5 pipe coming out of the 4 inch end of the hose seems to me that it would be safer Now on a smaller truck with 5 inch pipe all the way out it's a little different,The 1 inch difference might be too much for the hose,Although I have ran them and I feel like they are NOT a high output hose they are good for MED to Slow discharge speeds...So I MYSELF like a GOOD 5 inch discharge Hose or a steel reducer with a SINGLE ended hose...And when you plug a reducing hose up with a "Fin FISH" it is a PITA to get out This is just my outlook on the subject ...I am sure there are many But this one is mine with out it I am nothing and with out me it is nothing..Whoops sorry had a little FULL METAL JACKET moment there!!!..LMAO |

I always leave my 5'tip hose on I rarely take it off unless a customer requests something else I think anytime you neck down from 5' your chances of fetching up increase's greatly although you will know where the jam is |

straight hose always! i was the operator who put a guy on permanent disability because of one of those hoses. JUSTAPUMPER said it himself, the plug will force itself through and whip violently. the steel reducer always stops the blockage 100% of the time |

reductions in steel always,if a reduction hose hasnt gotten you yet count your blessings , but it will happen for sure , they should be outlawed , one of the most dangerous tools on alot of pumps today. |

I only use a single end 5" hose period when pumping directly out of the boom. Reducing off the end of the boom with the reducer and hose or reducing hose in my opion is unsafe. Reducing just doubles the chances that the hose is going to whip . |

some jobs reducing is neccesary I just think its safer to do it in steel before the hose, 99% of the time that steel reducer catches the plug or foreign material before it hits the hose, in my opinion making it a safer practice, ICFs are done also by steel reducers and it works just fine. |
