Any one ever been paid by percentage of sale or anything like that? Or to owners out there has anyone did the same or pay after expenses type of thing?

Yes I was paid a % based on invoice total in the early 80's and if i used my own truck the percentage went up to I think about 50%. The problem was the IRS did not like the way it was done and it caused problems. This was for line pumps only.

All the trailer pumpers in So Cal were paid on a precentage in the 70's when I started until some time in the 90's. We supplied the truck were paid up to 60% of the bill at one point. That largely changed when the IRS put the liability for payroll taxes on the employeer. Too many pumpers didn't run a business or pay their taxes and the IRS came back on the pump company for years of payroll taxes.

We made a lot of cash and thought we were rich. We had new 4x4 trucks, dirt bikes, high dollar stereos, you name it. Top guys made $1,000+ per week with no withholding, but we really didn't make any money after we paid for a truck, bought all the fuel and paid our taxes. We just didn't know our costs.
